THE HOSTILITY LINGERED in the air like smog, near tangible with its intensity. bright roseate hue opened to the site of the makeshift training grounds, dummies decimated with the effects of lingering semblance. he perched on the low hanging branches of a tree bordering the clearing, fingers absently twisting bits of chord together in an intricate braid. it was difficult to believe that this was his life now ; a bodyguard for the daughter of the branwen head seemed far more eventful than what was essentially glorified babysitting. then again, he’d only been assigned the role a few days ago.

adjusting to life in a tribe was hard after living so long without one. it was strange not having nora perpetually at his side, and to instead trail behind the chief’s offspring like a lap dog. this was fine. in time he would become used to the scathing glares, both he and yang had ‶ tolerated ‶ one another in childhood, he had faith such lasting resentment would eventually fade. they were young adults now, and it had been over a decade since their tribes had split ways. he found it hard to believe that the immaturity of their youth could last considering any and all tribulations they might have gone through. she was making it difficult though, BY THE GODS. ‵ the elders will worry if you skip lunch again. ‵
