dying my mate's tail rn
some times I feel like I’ve died at some point and my spirit just repossessed my body, and that in some ways feel like my body is rotting around me as I possess it. this has led to me relating to kintypes that involve death and being undead. I know these feelings probably have to do with my depression and other mental illnesses, but sometimes it’s a little comforting to seek out the experiences of people who embrace these feelings.
even though I don’t consider my identity as a dragon to be spiritual, my otherkinity and draconity have always had a kind of religious under tone, even when I doubted that I was a dragon.
I understand now that by/in my neomata that I was a temple guardian, it wasn’t my inherent duty, it was my job, like how being a viking was just a seasonal job. But it was an undoubtedly religious job.
in times that I doubted being a dragon I thought that I might be angel of some kind. I even thought about the possibility of being a god, but that didn’t last long because of how wrong it felt. regardless of what I was I would always come back to the conclusion that I was something whose job was to serve a higher power in some way.
for a short period of time before I linked my dragon identity with having a religious role, I considered myself a hellenist reconstructionist, I don’t think I ever fully finished my conversation before I fell out of practice, but it filled in the gap that I felt. I was a worshipper of Hestia, the goddess of the hearth whose hearth made the worship of the other Thoi possible. she had vary few temples dedicated to her because being the goddess of hearth meant every temple a temple for her in a way. It didn’t occur to me why I was so drawn to her in particular until after I fell out of practice and started focusing on my otherkinity and draconity. I believe I was drawn to her because I was drawn to keeping a hearth, I was drawn to her role in every temple.
I’ve never really had a ‘‘typical awakening” for my otherkin/nonhuman/creature identity. I’ve just kinda always viewed myself as something other then human, typically a dragon. even before I knew what a dragon was I was some sort of beast.
I experienced all sorts of unusual things when I was little, like always "pretending” to be a creature even when it didn’t makes sense (like being the pet dragon when playing house). feeling invisible wings and tail when walking through the school halls. I wasn’t until later did I find out others had similar experiences and a community, and I kinda consider that to have been my awakening.
sometimes my identity is male dragon, other times Im am amorphous thing inhabiting the body of a human trying to be a guy
otherkin urge: I want to eat bugs
I am a beast roaming in between decay and growth, fungus and wildflowers live upon me.
