Storm Chaser Pete and Happy Bento Yumi

Some people might not know these exist, so here's a link to the Storm Chaser Pete blog, for Trail of the Twister. The original intern, Pete, writes about his month with the storm chasing team before getting injured and leaving. And here's a link to Yumi's blog, which also lasts for a month, before Shadow at the Water's Edge.

(The last dates of the blogs are based off the release dates of the games, not the actual time of year in the games. Trail of the Twister happens in May, and Shadow at the Water's Edge is during the summer.)

Message in a Haunted Mansion: BOOK info

-Abby is said to be about 35 years old.  Rose’s niece.  Plays piano.  Full skirt, peasant shawl, hoop earrings.  Purple scarf tied over her long red hair.  She is described as “heavyset” and is sensitive about her weight. Has a black cat named Alfreida.

-Charlie’s surname is Webber.  He is much older, and has a limp.  So not many people want to hire him for renovation work.  He has a daughter named Cassandra who works in Louis’ antiques store.

-There is a homeless teenage boy with long blonde hair that is mistaken for the ghost of Lizzie Applegate.  This character was combined with Charlie Webber to create the Charlie Murphy seen in the game.

-The homeless boy, Timmy Coletti, has a white dog named Tramp.  Lizzie Applegate also had a white dog.

-The phoenix is a symbol of San Francisco, because of the rebuilding after fire.

-Nancy, Bess, and George go to a Chinese restaurant across the street and meet a waitress named Mary Lee.  Her family owns the restaurant.  Her great grandfather was the cook who worked at the GG hotel.  Mary appears several times throughout the book.  The Gum Bo Fu clue comes from Mary’s family.

-Nancy and Bess go to a public library to research the history of the mansion.  They also visit the Chandler antiques store, along with George.

-They want Victorian costumes to wear to the Winter Festival where Louis will have a booth for his Victorian antiques.  Nancy goes to the festival but leaves early.

-Louis pursued Rose romantically to have more sway over her.

-The book takes place around Christmas.  Christmas Day was when Diego disappeared, after his last heist.  The gold in the mansion is from the Christmas Day robbery.  The piano song references Christmas gold, which was carried over to the game.

Nancy Drew games: Elliott's numbers

I noticed that there are numbers at the bottom of Elliott's mugshot sign. They're not the clearest but to me it sort of looks like 06 11 03, so June 11th, 2003? Could that be the date the mugshot was taken? In Harlan's agenda, June 10th was circled, so maybe Elliott's mugshot was taken the day after?

Nancy Drew Games: timeline

I made this timeline only to realize afterwards that a list like this already existed, in greater detail.

One thing really stands out to me which is the lack of autumn games!  I’m surprised because fall has the perfect spooky vibes.

Winter

-Last Train (not sure when but it’s cold)

-Royal Tower (not sure when but it’s cold)

-Haunted Mansion (Definitely winter.  Everyone is going to the Winter Festival, and Charlie is studying for finals.  End newspaper says Mar. 3.)

-Sea of Darkness (January.  Based on Soren’s notes.)

-White Wolf (Jan. 18.  Bill and Lou checked in a week ago on Jan. 11.  Elsa's quitting letter was Jan. 15 and Lupe said Elsa left 3 days ago.)

-Phantom of Venice (In Helena’s notes, one of her story ideas is “Global Warming vs. Venice.”  The game takes place during Carnivale, in Aquarius season, but the vibes feel much warmer and summery.)

-Captive Curse (Mar. 12)

-Kapu Cave (Shortly after Apr. 9, though calendar still says March.  I read online that peak pineapple season starts in March.)
