I am here to propose that to protect Frances' reputation, her eastern family took in her baby as their own, eventually leading to Dave's family line.

From a storytelling perspective, this makes quite a bit of sense because we learn that almost all the other candidates have some super sketchy academic behaviors they're hiding. (Megan just had unfortunately timed food allergies.) Once Megan arrived back on campus, the race was on between her and Mel.

Nancy Drew Headcanons: The Monster Was Actually the Freiherr’s Daughter

It all makes sense: the dungeons, the coverup and mystery surrounding her death, how elements of her life intertwine into lore. Else lived in a time where mental illness was not understood; if she was murderous and was the creator of tragedies, her family would cover that up somehow, even after she died in her own family’s dungeon. The artist who painted her portrait even recognized this and put Else’s own internal demons into the artwork. It was a clue that few would recognize, but was present all the same.

David Alleyne from X-Men absorbs all the knowledge of people around him in a room, but loses it when he gets out of range. Emma Frost thinks that it's a defense mechanism, since his unconscious fear is that he will slowly slip into evil in his attempts to use his knowledge for good. He keeps the block, but starts checking to make sure he takes different paths. Now the block has been removed. We don't see him much after that, but he's got all the moral systems of the X-Men in his head. [1/2]

He’s got Wolverine’s ideas on killing and Nightcrawler’s piety and Everyone else. His fear of the future stripped him of his faith in his own moral compass. Instead of the block as his compulsion, he starts constantly checking and analyzing his own ethics, terrified that he’s slipping into the dark side with his every decision. David Alleyne has OCD, this is my headcanon hill to die on. (2/2)

i’m laughing to myself thinking of nursey being so proud to show off one of his poems to dex who just. doesn’t get it. and he goes “yeah... that’s definitely... reading material.....” and nursey just beams and is like “well, you’re boyfriend material” and dex is like “yes fucker we’ve been dating for a year” and then they leave to go have sex

and bitty and lardo, who witnessed all this, just like, share a look and tilt their heads and bitty goes “did he say... reading material?” and lardo’s like “yep. he definitely did say that. about a poem. yep.”

When I started shipping it if I did: i only joined this fandom like, a month and a half ago. so idk, a month ago?

My thoughts: We really don’t know too too much about them, so they’re fun to play with and force into stress-tests to see how authors write them reacting to that. Also I have a thing for red-heads. And I relate to Dex because I’m also angry and from a small coastal fishing town.

What makes me happy about them: The juxtaposition between their two personalities!! I have a ~type~ for my OTPs. My HP OTP has been Deamus since 2010 because Seamus is pretty much angry all the time and Dean is portrayed as this, like, paper boat floating on a calm pond. I REALLY like when Dex is all ragey and ranty and sarcastic in front of others but around Nursey kind of lets down his guard and stops caring so much, and vice versa, where Nursey tries to put up this ~calm cool collected~ demeanour but around Dex allows himself to freak out when people are late or when he has too much homework, etc.

What makes me sad about them: Uh. Hm. There’s like a collective agreement that Dex’s family is inherently homophobic and Awful, and often Nursey’s parents are portrayed as distant, and that makes me sad. I’d like to see more fic explore different dynamics, or idk how they grew up to be independent/confident/self-assured despite all that.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Okay so aside from a few cliché things in this bingo sheet (though I don’t mind most of those tbh), I dislike when people forget that they’re just 18/19 year old boys? Let them be vulgar. Let them fight. Let them insult each other. Let them get fucking drunk and high. Give them realistic dialogue. They’re not going to magically stop fighting and disagreeing as soon as they touch each other’s genitals and they don’t have to fall in love and be together forever at that age – that’s like, abnormal. IDK and I think I’m guilty for sometimes writing them like that, especially from from Nursey’s point of view, but yeah. ALSO THE ROMANTICIZATION OF LOBSTER FISHING ew

Things I look for in fanfic: Huh. At this point I can hardly be picky? Because it’s not like there’s a ton of nurseydex out there. But I guess I look for things that aren’t too fluffy right off the bat, or that are realistic enough. I like simple, I guess. My very favourite nurseydex fic is Idiot (derek nurse, spoken word, 2016) by Euphorion which I’ve already read twice and think about a lot, especially Nursey’s “rock-hard conception of gender” which I think is wonderful.  

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Uhh I don’t think we have enough characters available for me to decide. There was a Dex/Kent in the rarepairs zine that I was surprised to enjoy, especially since I HC that Dex is going to get drafted to the Aces eventually (seriously… he asks about Kent WAY too much for there not to be any foreshadowing there). But it’s not like, endgame-worthy.

My happily ever after for them: Like I said, I feel like Dex is going to get drafted into the NHL or the AHL soo idk they have a fancy modern apartment somewhere and they get two dogs and Nursey’s done his B/Ed and is doing his M/Ed in counselling so he can eventually open up a practice for athletes with mental health issues and also he’s published some novels on the side.

Who is the big spoon/little spoon: I think they switch up depending on who needs what the most. But neither of them can sleep that way. They just spoon for a bit then sleep apart in their bed (once they have a bigger bed ofc, those boys are huge).

What is their favorite non-sexual activity: Watching really bad movies and either lip-dubbing them or just giving really funny “director’s commentary” from the living room couch and laughing so hard the dogs hide behind the couch.
