It was Cece’s insistence that she come to the party, but Audrey was glad she did, really. It was a beautiful night, and after the incredibly hot and humid days they’d been having the coolness of the water nearby was relaxing. After offering both the birthday girls a hug and spending some time chatting with Gabe and the other people that had come to celebrate, Audrey grabbed a bottle of water and turned to walk up the beach a bit, then took a seat on a rock that looked like it had sat several pensive thinkers before her.

Tomorrow she was headed back to Santa Barbara for the day in hopes of bringing Oliver back with her, and she could only hope that Adam had complied with her request to drop him off. If he hadn’t, she needed to mentally prepare for the confrontation that was bound to occur. Or, the emotional confrontation, anyway. He’d be upset with her, she’d feel badly about it. Again. But she couldn’t let herself think that way - not with such a gorgeous sunset ahead of her.
