I find it so funny that my problem with staring into space was mostly fixed by getting glasses. Who knew it's hard to focus your eyes on things in the distance when you're nearsighted

Cute.
Nearsighted crew who can dance and who can't:
Matty: oh fuck no. do not drag his ass to the bouzoukia he will stand there like someone forgot to rig his model for animations
Gio: kinda, yeah he will, he's okish but visibly a bit cringe
Florian: only when he's very drunk and it will be Bad
Scotty: yeah, quite decently.
Marianne: She can waltz but not dance at the club
Veena: learned some dances from her favorite movies for fun, but would die before showing anyone
Rita: not really, and doesn't want to
Chris: her parents made her do Polish folk dancing as a kid but that's it
If Nearsighted was an actual dating game, Mattheos would be the "canon" love interest/"canon ending" (big oc blathering below!!!)
I don't know, I just find him to be narratively the most interesting, as well as he was the first character I created for the universe.
He ties the library crew together because he's always sitting at his fancy grad student desk pretty much every day like it's his office, so he sees everyone who goes to the library. He uses the computer lab so he interacts with Florian/ Scotty/ Rita and assorted flipside gang. He sees Gio reading all the time, and they clash in personality quite a bit.
I also think he has the most personality growth to do. He starts out with a MASSIVE superiority complex, which makes him pretty unlikable and is the reason he has gotten zero bitches despite being like 31. Going to a relatively less prestigious school because they are the only one who will pay for his doctorate hasn't really had the effect of humbling him, and instead just pissed him off even more. (Don't worry he gets to fellow somewhere cool after he gets his doctorate). To add to that, most people around him have no fucking clue what he's talking about when he explains his doctorate thesis to them because no one has any idea how this advanced mathematical shit works.
You get to talk to him more and you and Gio and everyone else get him to lighten up a bit and realize that he's not better than everyone, and even if he was, acting like it is going to completely negate any equalities he may have because no one would want to spend time with him if he can't interact with others. You also get to unravel his more... Strange tendencies when it comes to math 👀... And some religious guilt too honestly.
Ultimately he's one of those people who has weird theories about everything and loves to go super in-depth into even super minute stuff, it's never gonna be "not that deep". And the interesting part of his character growth, is he gets to expand this out of just mathematics (and some historybro stuff) but he gets to engage with other topics too.
Mini rant
People dont talk about being farsighted enough. When people talk about glasses 9 times out of 10 they talk about nearsightedness, but rarely farsightedness. Even the farsighted tag on here is flooded with nearsighted posts, which is annoying, because i look at the farsighted tag to see others like me, not to see nearsighted people.
Shout out to folks with Nearsightedness/Myopia!
Couple of very nearsighted guys.
