It is 37°, we are in a wind advisory, and I am standing in the yard with my dad grilling steak and drinking ice cold beer.
Don't let anyone tell you Nebraska doesn't know how to party.

Leaving Nebraska
You sometimes don't realize what you miss until it returns to remind you. Traveling home, the sun rose after a long dark while I drove between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Suddenly, I saw trees for the first time in a year. Hills, mesas, and mountains replaced the perpetual flatness I'd grown accustomed to. But most of all, there were colors! Reds, greens, and blues replaced the omnipresent monochrome of brownish-gray I'd known for the past year. It seemed as though I swam through the eye of a kaleidoscope, and it's a memory I doubt I will ever shake.
I may be the first Easterner impressed by how many trees and flowers there are in the Southwest, how many cities and the amount of humanity, but there was a lot of Nebraska in between.
"Okay can I just say something crazy?”
