Ann’s Story: A busy mom learns to prioritize her own health
Ann Casaday is a lot of things to a lot of people. She’s a wife of 31 years to husband Kelly, a busy mother of five, a pharmacy technician, a volunteer in her church, schools and community; the list goes on and on. So, when Ann was admitted to the emergency department with severe abdominal pain and was told she needed her gallbladder out, it was second nature for her to put off surgery for a few months. According to Ann, “It was just until my daughter’s wisdom teeth were out and I had a few other family details taken care of.”
Four months later, just five days before her surgery date, Ann found out that her pancreas was in serious trouble. Her gallstones had blocked the usual excretion of digestive juices or enzymes, which subsequently started attacking her pancreas. This left upwards of 80 percent of her pancreatic tissue necrotized (dead). Not only was Ann in extreme pain but her inflamed pancreas was pressing on other vital organs, threatening to damage both her liver and spleen. Her pancreas had developed a cyst that, if ruptured, could have become life threatening.
After spending nine days in ICU to get the pancreatic inflammation under control, Robert Glasgow, M.D. recommended and performed surgery to drain the contents of the pancreatic cyst directly into Ann’s stomach. This procedure, a cystogastrostomy, eliminated the possibility that the cyst could rupture and allowed her body to naturally expel the tissue without causing damage to other organs. Today, even though Ann’s pancreas functions on about 20 percent of normal tissue capacity, she’s able to eat a regular, healthy diet and feels no lingering effects from her disease or surgery.
And of course, since her surgery, Ann is back to her regular pace. She’s working again (both at the pharmacy and at home) and has been able to join in family vacations to Delicate Arch and San Diego. Ann and Kelly don’t skip a beat when discussing how grateful they are for the remarkable care she received at University of Utah Hospital — from surgeons to attending physicians to PAs to nurses and lab techs. As Kelly says, “Every single person we encountered bent over backwards for Ann’s care.” Another area where Kelly doesn’t skip a beat? Letting Ann know how happy he is that she’s still around and thanking her for still being here and being in his life, every single time he sees her.

Maybe she'd had another nightmare? Maybe she was just feeling lonely. Whatever the reason she was in his bed he was unphased and happy to have her there beside him. He puts an arm around her and kisses her shoulder, settling down to sleep again.

How long is that thesis? Because I don’t think it’s that people want anything for it, but perhaps they don’t want to say yes to reading a long thing about something they possibly find boring. I’d do it, but no need to promo.

I would do it just because I <3 you but how long is this thesis?
At this time the thesis is 26 pages double spaced/15 single spaced. I really don't mind if people get bored with it so long as they tell me why it's boring. (Ie. You have excessive dialogue that keeps the story from moving forward, you don't establish your characters, etc.)

ooc; I’ll read it and just have to know if there’s something you want me to look for like coherency, run on, or just to get the spiel of the main point?
I'm kind of concerned about the world building and how understandable everything is.
So, here is the dropbox link. If you open it up as a word document, you may see text in red. I'm supposed to track my changes, and those are from older revisions. You can get rid of them by going to Review - Track Changes - No mark up.
Necrotized found Keep's!
The face on the cover of the book was protesting it's innocence to Abe. "They were making fun of me! I had to get some kind of revenge!"
Abe shook his head at the book. "That's not true and you know it. I talked to several of the books on your shelf. You've been a very bad book, shredding pages and hitting other books with your cover."
"They're lying," the book protested again."I didn't do anything!"
"And that's why I caught you beating up the second edition of the Alchemist's Almanac?" Jon gave the book a stern look, then his head popped up as the bell over his door rang. He gave the new customer a smile.
"I'll be with you in a minute. Just dealing with a naughty title." He looked back down at the book who was now sputtering it's innocence. "I'm going to have to punish you. Historical non-fiction for you, and I hope you learn your lesson."
The book cried out as Abe picked it up and tossed it into a cupboard behind the counter. Muffled crying could still be heard. He smiled at the new customer again.
"Sorry about that. My name's Abe, I own the place. How can I help you?"
necrotized replied to your post:"Stay... please."
She wrapped her arms around him and sighed deeply. “Thanks… it’s been a while since I’ve had a nightmare.”
He kisses her head and squeezes her gently, "do you want to try and sleep again or shall I get us a hot drink?"
