YGO Challenge Day 16: Favorite Spell
Technically the prompt was favorite spell and favorite field spell, but I couldn't think of a favorite spell because all of my favorites are already field spells.
I'm a HUGE fan of field spells. That's the main reason I would suck at a turbo duel because so many of my decks rely on fields, and with Speed World already in play I'd already be screwed. Madolche Chateau, Future Visions, Ghostrick Mansion, I love them all and I love the playing style that revolves around their use. I picked for my favorite one, though, Necrovalley.
The very first deck I ever bought was a Marik Structure deck from Target, and I only bought it because it was the only full starter deck that had a character I knew on the front (even though I'm not a fan of Yami Marik, who was the cover photo lol). Most of the cards that were in the deck originally I've phased out (Viser Des, Legendary Fiend...) and now, after five years of slowly tweaking and adding and subtracting cards, of getting to know their effects, their playing style, the quickest combo to endgame, it's my best deck. If I was a Yu-Gi-Oh character, it would probably be my signature archetype because I know it so well now that I barely have to think. The moment I have my first five cards I know exactly what to do with them to win.
So Necrovalley is a super important card to me, being the signature field of my best deck...and it's pretty epic too if you think about it, in today's game scenarios—it doesn't let people special summon or banish from the graveyard, and once you pair it with Hidden Temples of Necrovalley, it's like Vanity's Emptiness except I still get to special summon and my opponent's extra deck becomes useless.
Man, I love Gravekeepers.
