Yummysment★Acrockie
Here, we finally get a look at what Snatchy's spaceship looks like, and consequently, a glimpse at what Snatchy does when they aren't capturing sweets that happen to contain Yummys. The main thing they do appears to be catalogue the captured Yummy varieties with the help of Catcher-kun. I should also point out, however, that they appear to be eating a lollipop while doing it (a fun detail since they’re stated to have a sweet tooth). All the little Yummys trapped in the lower part of the ship kinda make me sad LOL, but it’s also funny to see Snatchy examining a typical Cupsie, while Catcher-kun informs them it’s a new variety. While this card is cute, I think the major criticism I have is that everything is so tiny/far away. The sweets filled background takes up more of the art’s area than the ship itself, which makes it hard to clearly see things like what Snatchy looks like without their suit or which Yummys have been captured.

Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins
A trip to some ancient, coliseum-like ruins reveals that LGBT+ people have always existed and always will. But being serious, the reason for this card existing at all the way it does is wild to me??? What do you mean Julius Caesar created the Crystal Beasts??????? Anyway, the longer I look at this the more scenic the background looks. The rainbow itself is very nice, of course, but I’m talking about the mountains, trees, and sky. The comparison there between this art and the original is a night and day difference. I would almost believe that the clouds are from a real photograph if not for the fact that the general shapes match the original. As for the coliseum itself, I think I prefer the original, actually. The shadows are too stark for me here, and the nice, earthy tone of the original is completely lost. But hey, at least the details on the columns are clearer, even if I still don’t know what they’re supposed to depict.

Dark Sanctuary
I feel bad saying this but... I don't remember this card popping up in Duel Monsters. I feel like I should because, well, a bunch of giant eyeballs in a dark red sky feels very memorable, but I simply don't. Anyway, I love the style this card was drawn in. The general technique is pretty simple (high contrasts to create tons of detail), but it's so cool. Like, this card only has four actual colors in it, but there's a whole ass well defined castle in it. The eyes and mouths are both creepy but enhance the intended feel of this card (spooky evil castle). The placement of the slanted eye directly above the central castle spire is especially choice. I think the only thing that could improve this card is a little more brightness/darkness contrast in the fog directly behind the castle just to help it pop a little bit more (they already did that when transferring this art from the anime to actual cards, but idk if they went far enough).

Catcher-kun gets a little card feature all to himself! Well, I say that, but really, it’s him in the corner and then a large scene of the different Yummy biomes. Which in themselves are super interesting! You have the cake-like mountains for the Cupsies, cookie flower fields for the Cookys, and candy coated grasslands for the Lollipos. It’s a really fun intersection of all the Yummy varieties, honestly, not to mention all the cute little poses of the Yummys themselves. I particularly like the Cupsie with its parfait cup on upside down and the little Cooky curled up on top of a sandwich cookie. Catcher-kun himself doesn’t really add all that much to this, aside from the fact that it seems like he can make wormholes (or whatever that spiraling hole is meant to be underneath him). I do feel like the card would be virtually the same without him tucked away into the corner. Everything else is really fun and cute, however.
