Mini-review:
Even though I loved the first two movies in the X Trilogy (they even made my top 10 for the year I watched them), I had been putting this one off cause I kept hearing disappointing stuff about it. Unfortunately, I agree with a lot of the things that have been said. The film is visually stunning, and Mia Goth remains an absolute star, but the plot can only be considered underwhelming. While I get that it draws inspiration from the 80s and movies from that era, it just doesn't feel that interesting. I guess the true problem might be the expectations set by the two previous installments. Without that weight, I'd probably feel different about MaXXXine.
