A Perfect Photo of Us
Obtainability: Limited to the “A New Beginning” event.
Effect: Negate Evade [100%] / Blast Damage Up [20%] (Team for one turn)
TLDR: This is a great memoria for Mirrors in that it gives the entire team Negate Evade and Blast Damage Up. The Blast Damage Up percentage is low comparatively, but it's still useful and a good way of finishing off a turn.
Thoughts: This memoria isn’t going to be as useful in PVE-- Negate Evade is rarely found, and you’ll probably want a higher Blast Damage Up percentage during a puella combo, making the benefits of this memoria less than stellar.
However, the real power of this memoria is in Mirrors. The cooldown is low enough that it can be used by turn three. Additionally, note that the effects of Negate Evade and Blast Damage Up will apply to the entire team. This gives it a versatile use, in that it can give your team some damage and/or give your entire team the ability to say “fuck evade.”
@leafbladie has the following to say on the blast side of it:
In the new mirrors it can be useful if you're using a 5 man team; just to give your team more damage in the final turn.
If you can’t guarantee a puella combo but you can fit blast in there somewhere, then this memoria is very helpful. Additionally, one can equip this memoria on a unit that won’t actually need to use it (such as a tank), meaning you can save more powerful active memoria for your damage-dealers.
When using this memoria you’ll want to make sure you have some sort of blast combo going on, as otherwise the only benefit you’ll be receiving is the Negate Evade portion.
Normally I would include a warning at this portion to make sure you don’t blow past the Blast cap at 100%, however this memoria being at 20% makes it harder to do so-- in fact, using a connect such as Ashley’s at 80% will fit you nice and snug exactly at that 100% cap.
Overall, this is a handy memoria to have for Mirrors.
The Calm After the Storm
Obtainability: Unlimited
Effect: Negate Evade [100%] (Self for three turns)
In the Light at its Birth
Obtainability: Limited to the “Hereafter” event / Ultimate Madoka Fateweave.
Effect: Attack Up [20%] / Negate Evade Chance [85%]
TLDR: This memoria is great in Mirrors to help ward off pesky evades, but keep in mind that it can still fail. Regarding PVE, there are better unlimited memoria out there to use with more useful secondary effects, but the high attack on this one makes it fine if you don’t have access to better.
Thoughts: This is one of the few memoria in the game that have a passive effect for Negate Evade-- but note that while the percentage is high, it’s still not guaranteed.
Negate Evade is much less useful in PVE as you are less likely to encounter it. Additionally, Evade can be dealt with by inflicting a status ailment through memoria such as “Magical Halloween Theater” or “The Fiery Dragon Roars.” This makes “In the Light at its Birth” more useful for Mirrors than PVE. When looking at PVE, some more useful passive unlimited memoria that can increase the DPS of a unit include:
“I Made Friends:” Attack Up at 20% with Critical Hit Chance at 25%; this memoria is the best in the game.
“Admiring the Beyond:” Attack Up at 20% with Status Ailment Resistance Up at 30%.
“Since I’m a Magical Girl Idol:” Attack Up at 20% and Negate Fog.
“My Bible:” Damage Up at 25% and Negate Curse.
However, “In the Light at its Birth” still has a great effect of “Attack Up” and can be used in the absence of these.
Regarding Mirrors, this memoria might not be able to completely negate evade chance, but it can help in situations such as Ranked. During Ranked Mirrors, one wants to end the battle by round 2, meaning you won’t have a chance to get to use your active memoria to get rid of any possible evades. Having this memoria on hand can help keep evade from being an issue, though again, it doesn’t completely negate evade. The Attack Up here is also good enough that you don’t lose out too much by equipping this. In fact, in some situations memoria like “I Made Friends” can be a bad idea for Ranked, as a badly-timed crit can kill a unit and end a match too early, or even worse, set the enemy team up for a devastating puella combo.
Regardless, this is a great memoria to have on hand and can be used in Mirrors and PVE alike. The Negate Evade won’t be too helpful on a Support Team, but feel free to use this if you want to flex on your mutuals.
Sworn Promise
Obtainability: Unlimited
Effect: Critical Hit Chance [35%] / Negate Evade (Self for three turns)
TLDR: This memoria is okay, but there are better active memoria out there for increasing your damage.
Thoughts: This memoria is of mixed use. It’s primary use is going to be in PVE-- it’s cooldown is too long to be useful for Mirrors. Therefor, its Negate Evade effect is largely useless, as Evade is rarely encountered in PVE, and can be largely taken care of with status ailment inflicting memoria (such as Magical Halloween Theater).
So the real reason to use this memoria would be due to its Critical Hit Chance. At 35%, this chance is rather low, but it’s made up for due to the fact the effect lasts for three turns. You’re better off equipping this memoria on a blast user, as each space the blast disk hits has a seperate chance of being a critical hit or not.
There are higher active memoria in the game that can give Critical Hit Chance, such as the unlimited 3* “The Glasses Girls’ Night Out” or the more limited 4* “Lightning Strike.” However, the fact that this memoria can last for three turns can give it a slight edge.
However, one important thing to note is that Critical Hit Chance does not stack. Equipping this memoria and a passive memoria such as “I Made Friends” which has a passive 25% chance is not going to combine into a 60% chance-- instead, both memoria have a separate probability to proc. Therefor, when using this memoria you may want to consider using passive memoria that don’t offer critical hit chance.
However, at the end of the day, it might be better to use a more reliable form of damage-increasing active memoria. Better choices include the unlimited 4* “I Won’t Stray” and the unlimited 4* “Past and Future.” Both also last for three turns, but will be useful for everyone moment of that turn.
The Price of a Wish
Obtainability: Limited to the “Endless Beginnings” event.
Notes: This is event memoria and should be kept in the case of the event being rerun. Also, thanks to my friend @leafbladie for looking over this review as a form of quality control!
Effect: Negate Evade Chance [70%] / Blast Damage Up [30%] (Self for three turns)
TLDR: This is a decent Blast Damage Up memoria though keep in mind that there are other active memoria that can have a stronger effect. The reason to use this one over those is because this memoria can last for three turns. This memoria is fine for supports and PVE, but not good for Mirrors.
Thoughts: This memoria is most easily compared to “Sworn Promise,” (link to be added) as both are Garden/Flower memoria and both give Negate Evade as an effect. However, much like “Sworn Promise,” “The Price of a Wish” has the same issue with Negate Evade. Namely, that it’s primary use is going to be in PVE as its cooldown is too long to be useful for Mirrors. Therefor, its Negate Evade effect is largely useless, as Evade is rarely encountered in PVE, and can be largely taken care of with status ailment inflicting memoria (such as Magical Halloween Theater). Additionally, unlike “Sworn Promise,” this memoria’s Negate Evade isn’t 100%, only being 70% at max ascended.
So with that in mind, the real reason to this memoria would be its second effect: Blast Damage Up. There are very few memoria in EN that offer such an effect for three turns. Of note, the Blast Damage Up offered here is not very high in the tradeoff for such a long effect-- there are many other active memoria that offer a higher percentage. This includes:
“Unfaltering Conviction” Blast Damage Up [60%] (Self for one turn)
“Christmas Night Magic” Blast Damage Up [50%] (Self for one turn) / Status Ailment Resistance Down [15%] (All foes for one turn)
“Kawaii Collection” Blast Damage Up [45%] (Self for one turn) / Defense Down [45%] (All foes for one turn)
“Two Shadows Approach Silently” Negate Evade / Blast Damage Up [45%] (Self for one turn)
“Fusion!” Blast Damage Up [40%] / Accele MP Up [22.5%] (Self for one turn)
“No Regrets” Blast Damage Up [40%] (Self for one turn)
However, @leafbladie has the following to say:
"The Price of a Wish’s" lower percentage might be preferred if you're worried about hitting the blast cap, and want an effect that will last longer while offering a secondary advantage.
Having this effect for three turns is still good. It goes without saying that this is best equipped on a character who is a blast gorilla, or will at least be reliably able to use three blast disks per turn.
Like said above, this memoria is not good for Mirrors as it’s cooldown is too long, and it doesn’t have enough defensive stats to be a good stat stick.
This memoria should be fine on supports, as long as they have three blast disks.
