Negative beings have a life cycle.
They spawn as big weird white grubs, very gross looking.
Then they go into metamorphosis and boom, negative celestial body.
This is because negatives want to be different in any way possible, so while positives just spawn in, the negatives have this whole horrid process.
When they are a larvae they start by being unable to move. They're incredibly stupid and just want to eat. Two months in and they will be running around and trying to find any and every way to kill themselves, not because they're suicidal, just because they're curious.
Grub personalities depend on the celestial bodies job that was assigned to it:
• An infector, though much rarer, will fight and bite at you at every chance given. These fuckers are blood thirsty, they don't care whose blood it is, they want it. They will fight in peoples arms, they will scream, they will bite, they will run and do whatever the fuck they want. They're quite literally the worst child you could ever have in your life. Though, Rez was an enjoyer of nap time surprisingly.
• A stunter is a celestial body with the meer purpose of stunting positive development. These are expendable and near mindless, they grow 10x faster than the more important celestial bodies due to this. Even as they approach the age of consciousness, they will still refuse to move and eat until they're told to. Loyal and nice child to deal with, has no concept of personal needs and will not cry. Easy to accidentally neglect. (THESE ARE NOT THE SAME AS INFECTION)
• Larches are celestial bodies just above the middle class, Kerian is included within this. These grubs are more bold with their plans to accidentally kill themselves, being naturally curious and just wanting see what happens when they do stuff. The closest to a human toddler.
• Heatchers only have one of their kind and that is Decay. These celestial bodies are usually more neutral in their beliefs, even being able to get common ground with the positives. Often used for interrogations, casual conversations, or even treaties in the rare chance that it temporarily happens. These grubs are very timid, often liking to hide beneath stuff to keep warm. They don't care much to run around and explore, they just like doing nothing all day because it's safe. This behavior however changes after the second year, after that they grow more bold and active, behaving more like Larches.
This stage of life is fairly quick, lasting only for five years. Though it's unpleasant for the person forced to care for them. Once they go into metamorphosis, their minds are fully developed and they can easily do their jobs. Their base instincts being inserted into their mind, the original being removed.
Unless something extremely traumatic happened, negative celestial bodies will not remember their childhood. If they do, it can lead to extreme confusion and distress, as well as behavioral disorders. Some instincts can even remain, which is problematic depending on the celestial body.
These grubs are often very sheltered because of this.
Cetus is often the one to take care of these grubs. They're very social creatures within this lore, so they will mourn the loss of someone important to them similarly to a positive being.
Despite their claims, positivity and negativity really aren't all that different.
Here ya go, negative lore. They're weird critters.
