Hello Eugenia! I found two sentences on ReversoContext which seem grammatically similar to me, but for some reason they differ for the use of это/этого:
1) Я не хочу делать это прямо сейчас.
2) Я больше не хочу делать этого.

Here's the problem: In the negative sentences verbs may take Genitive (этого) or/and Accusative (это) cases. Both are correct, but there are some nuances.
Genitive goes when:
- there is a verb иметь: ты не имеешь права, это не имеет смысла.
- there are quantifying words никакой, ничей, ни один: я не выпила ни одной чашки кофе, ты не прочитал ни одного романа
- there are verbs of mental activities (thoughts, perception): не понял вопроса, не чувствовал боли, не заметил ошибки (Accusative is possible here, but Genitive is preferable)
- the noun is abstract: не теряй времени! я не испытываю желания (Accusative is possible here, but Genitive is preferable)
- the object is a pronoun (your example!) не допущу этого; не делайте этого. (again, Accusative would be also correct here)
- there are "emphasizing particles" и, даже before the nouns: я и слова не сказала!
- there are ни... ни ... : не читает ни книг, ни газет.
- set expression: не играет роли, не производит впечатления, не обращает внимания, не уделяет внимания, не приносит ущерба, не придает значения, не вызывает сомнения, не принимает участия, не находить себе места and some others.
Accusative goes when:
- не doesn't negate a verb, but another word in a sentence: Я не очень люблю стихи.
- nouns are modified or explained: он не читает книги, которые я ему даю; я не считаю нашу дискуссию полезной.
- when negation has an infinitive: я не хочу читать стихи. Я не хочу делать это (your example! - yes, both options are possible and correct)
- there are words едва не, чуть не, чуть-чуть не: Я чуть не уронила стакан.
- pure negative sentences: мне некому показать работу. Ему неоткуда брать деньги. (see above, negation is not for verbs here)
- set expressions: не морочь мне голову; Не скаль зубы.
In your examples, both это and этого could be used. These are two alternative cases for negative sentences, yet, I'd say, genitive would be preferable for the first sentence, and accusative suits the second sentence better.
I know, it is very frustrating when the rules are not straightforward, but you are dealing with language, a living and ever-changing substance. Some degree of flexibility and vagueness is normal and inevitable.
