Three and a half years ago I shaved my head, it was a hard decision because I wanted to ket it grow. It was 50% longer at the time and i was happy with it other than fact it needed maintenance every 3 months or so. Thats because those dreads had been started with a technique called interlocking. I'd never have agreed to it if I knew it would mean routine updates. I've not needed regular external maintenance since I stopped breastfeeding (thank you mum 💖) and the concept of having to visit the hair dresser every 3 months was alien. It also felt in some way fake. . . So I shaved em off and started again. This time with the neglect method, where you let it go and leave them to do their thing. No maintenance and no trips to the hairdresser 😍 These dreads are just long enough that they are starting to get caught under my rucksack shoulder straps when I put it on ?minor landmark rather than a goal) Acro flyers sometimes stand on them and or complain they're not sure where to tread.
