Jean about Neil and Kevin basically: I am intrinsically linked to them, they are me and I am them in some way, I would trust them with my life and would go to the ends of the earth if they asked me to, our fates and souls are intertwined, they are my Achilles heel and I could and would not exist in a world without them in it.

I don't think people give Neil enough credit when it comes to Jean. It's obvious that he's the one who made the deal with Ichirou to save his life and that he put a hit out on someone for him, but what's not talked about enough is that he saved Jean even before that. When Neil came out of the nest, he couldn't even think about Jean without spiraling (which is a testament to how awful and traumatizing it was for him mentally, physically, and emotionally- it doesn't take critical thinking skills to understand that) and he had every right to move on and never look back. Still, Kevin was the one who gave Renee Jean's number, but it was Neil who told him to. Renee was Jean's lifeline, but it was Neil who threw the rope. He did the only thing he was physically capable of doing to help Jean at the time. Like it's obvious from Jean's pov how important Neil is, that's his misplaced forever partner. And just like Jean "gave" Neil to Andrew, Neil "gave" Jean to Renee. Anyway... I'll never be normal about them. Also imagine how obsessed they'd be with each other if Nathaniel had been raised in the nest. Only two weeks with him and the second he gained consciousness it was all Jean this Jean that. Can you tell I listened to ma meilleure ennemie from arcane while writing this... somebody sedate me

It has been confirmed that had Neil been a Raven he never would have left Jean.

There were also previous drafts of the AFTG books where Neil and Jean made out.

I’m pretty sure that if Neil became a Raven when he was young then he and Jean would have been in a relationship. Not only would they have been forever partners, but I wholeheartedly believe they most likely would have been in love with one another.
