I haven’t spoken much about this yet because it seemed so far away, but now that it is less than a week away I had better be shouting it from the mountaintops. I don’t post a lot of stuff about my personal life here on this feed, but just in case any readers are close to the greater Des Moines area- I’m in a play. I’m making my “triumphant return” to the stage. For those that have known me a long time you know that theatre was my life, for roughly half my life. I used to perform ALL THE TIME since about 4th grade and actually have my masters degree in theatre performance… but I haven’t been on stage doing a live performance as a character for the past 20 years. I had kids and a family and jobs and other responsibilities so I shifted my focus to find other ways to scratch my creative itch that didn’t involve live performance and being away for long stretches. That was fine and I got to do a LOT of other amazing things in that time. But now, I’m living a new state. I don’t know very many people and an audition notice showed up on my Facebook page for a group in the next town over doing a show by one of my favorite playwrights and I thought - that sounds fun. So talked it over with my amazing wife , auditioned, and I got a role. Now I’m part of an AMAZING ensemble and I’m creating a character again, and it’s really nourished my soul. So if you are anywhere close to the greater Des Moines area I invite you to come see our delightful production or Mr #NeilSimon ‘s Rumors. I think you will laugh until something inside you shakes loose and you might need medical attention.
