so this year I lied to my family about where I was going because they don’t like me going to cons but I made plans for this to be the last one I go to before I move out. So we were supposed to leave early before anyone in my house woke up but no one was answering me.
Avery was passed the fuck out and didn’t wake up till 10 minutes before we were supposed to leave.
THEN WE GOT ROBERT WHO WAS WEARING HIS CASUAL AIZAWA COSPLAY
AND THREW HIM IN THE BACKSEAT
I bought robert aizawa’s goggles as a later birthday gift but he didn’t bring them
He later regretted this because he realized he was hard to recognize as Aizawa and looked more like Tommy Wiseau. We called him Tommy Wizawa.
two hours later and we were at the con and got our badges
I made it my mission to seek out all devilman buttons and charms to fill my angel wing itabag with because Avery and I are making very gay Ryo/Akira ship bags.
After a few hours we were fucking tired and hungry so we left to get pizza and go check into our hotel
but when we got there they didn’t have Avery’s reservation on file and she was struggling to get her email to load to pull up the reservation info
when she did find it it turned out she booked a room at a different hotel
the hotel room we DID get was super nice tho
and as usual Avery got stuck carrying most of my shit up
robert did not go back to the con with us that day because he was too worn out
Avery and I went to a nintendo/power crown photoshoot and most shoots I’ve gone too have no kissing rules but THIS ONE DIDN’T so Avery and I did a lot of kissy kissy poses as Bowser and Peach. We went back to the hotel almost immediately after because Avery’s heels were hurting her feet and my Bowser tail was pulling my pants down.
robert jolted awake when we came back
then he immediately went back to sleep
after Robert officially awoke we played Super Mario Party together. We made the CPU player a super hard difficulty Goomba. He became our nemesis.
saturday Avery and I were Morrigan and Hsien-ko from darkstalkers and Robert was part 4 Jotaro Kujo from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. His costume was surprisingly easier for him to put on than ours despite all the layers he had to wear but he looked amazing in it.
I was running late for the capcom photoshoot I hosted and left to go check in while Robert helped Avery get her wings on
but I kept getting stopped for photos and didn’t want to be rude
Robert and Avery suffered a similar problem while trying to catch up to me
the cosplayers who showed up were very nice and weren’t mad I was late. It was a small group but they were all super sweet.
I whipped off Hsien-ko so fast after the shoot and changed into my Soldier 76 cosplay based on his trick or treat spray to wear later
when I checked in for my D&D panel I was told I’d get 15 minutes to get set up. No staff was outside to meet me or tell me what was going on and the workshop ahead of me was taking a really long time.
the workshop ran long and we didn’t eat beforehand and we waited about 45 minutes before someone finally came out and apologized and said we could go in
I asked if we were allowed to swear and the staff member said that while it’s not an 18+ panel he usually doesn’t stop anyone and Avery just said this into the mic
I got a lot of variations of this question either regarding a player or a DM. A lot of my responses came down to communication with the player or DM but after multiple questions like this where they said they already spoke with the person I ended up telling the people there that you can’t always force people to play the way you want them too and if they’re making the game not fun for you then you don’t HAVE to play with them. This sadly chewed up most of the panel and I didn’t cover everything I wanted to but the turnout was way more than what I expected.
after the panel we decided to play a 30 round game of mario party which was a terrible idea
goomba was still the enemy
I won 3 games in a row
sunday and we were all exhausted
Avery and I were in our Vampire the Masquerade cosplays and Robert was Jotaro again because he didn’t bring a VtM cosplay because he couldn’t think of a cosplay idea (tho I think he definitely preferred being Jotaro)
met up with my friend Cat who was part of our Vampire group. She wasn’t able to get there till later so by the time she showed up it was almost time for us to leave. We got some pics together and hugged before our group left the con.
I joked about us going to red lobster when we passed one on the way to hampton but then that made me actually want red lobster so that’s what we ate before going home
