The funniest part of Youjo Senki is that the core message of the story - "middle management is hell" - only Tanya experiences as the butt of the joke.

Think about it: everybody else just has the alt history WWI going on, and theoretically it is an ambiguously plural transfem power fantasy like Slime or Spider, but specifically because Tanya is ex-middlemanager it is hell for her with dumbass endearing underlings, incompetent higher-ups and annoying paperwork.

For Tanya, middle management is a hell of her own creation!
