Nell Craig

June 13, 1891 – January 5, 1965

☆ American actress entered films in 1913. She was a brunette leading lady of the silent screen and character actress. Under contract to MGM, she is noted for her recurring role as Nurse Parker in the Dr. Kildare movies of the late 30's and early 40's. Spent her last years as an actress at Paramount.

It all started with her. Cornelia Bartlett. She was a musician. She composed beautiful music right here at this piano. It's a funny-looking old instrument, isn't it? She could certainly make it talk. Here's something of hers. (Playing a few passages on the piano) And then she died. (......) I lost all interest in doctoring. I lost all interest in everything. I might have ended up in the gutter.

(......) Now, he never once told me I was wasting my life. He kept on saying I didn't have any right to waste the lives of others. The people I'd taken an oath to help when I became a doctor. He said, 'Keep your grief in your heart. Suffer with it. Let it temper you.'

TODAY IN GINNY! - June 13 - Nell Craig

Nell Craig (1891) is yet another multi-TIGer and we've had a lot of late. She appeared in THE WOMEN (1939) as a nurse and in TOO HOT TO HANDLE (1938) as Todd's secretary.  She was in films from the 1910s and even played Mrs. Lincoln in 1924. Still, she is best remembered today as Nurse "Nosey" Parker in the Dr. Kildare films. She was also a nurse in CASANOVA BROWN and played a nun in BOYS TOWN. The photo is a 1916 movie star card.
