Northern lights in Nellim, Finland (2018)

They weren’t actually this bright, it’s a long exposure. We almost didn’t see them at all. There’s an app that tells you when there’s high activity. On our last night, it finally showed up at 11pm and I had to wake everyone up to change into our millions of layers to go look.

The Aurora Borealis, I was very lucky that on my first night staying in Nellim Finland that the skies were clear and our guide Bjorn had a good spot to watch the Northern Lights. All I have done is remove a little bit of noise, when I have time I will clean up fully along with the other images. This was taken using a Nikon D5600 with a f1.8 35mm lens, the ISO was 1600 and shutter 13s.
