Netflix’s Brazilian series Girls From Ipanema / Coisa Mais Linda

Just finished the second season of coisa mais linda and i had something that really bothering me, and that is how they wrote the relationship between adelia, cap, nelson, and thereza.

Okay long story short nelson got adelia pregnant so he was sent to paris and left adelia. He sent letters to her but his brother kept those letters. Adelia was forced raise the child, conceicao, with cap who she romantically involved with, and her sister ivone. Eventually nelson met thereza and got married. They tried to have a child but thereza had a miscarriage but they moved on.

The thing is adelia getting back with nelson just didnt make sense to me, at all. Adelia was basically left with conceicao by nelson’s family and she went through so much..... with cap. Both cap and adelia along with ivone struggled and raised conceicao in a loving family. They build their life together and he always stick with her no matter what.

On the other hand, nelson went through so much too..... with thereza. They were trying to build a family but thereza had a miscarriage but they had each others back and carry on together for a long time. They love each other despite all the bad things that has happened to them. They are devoted to each other.

They could have made adelia and nelson trying to figure out how to coparent together. They could have made cap getting used to conceicao having two fathers as well as adelia. They could have made thereza as a mentor to concaicao (they showed this a little bit). They could have made both couple continue building their relationship.

But the writers, instead, decided to make adelia broke up with cap after they got married not so long ago and write him off just like that without consequences, and got back with nelson?! Also nelson decided to go to paris with adelia and her daughter and told thereza in the face WHEN it was thereza’s plan to go to paris with him to start a new life?! Mind you that both adelia and thereza are friends, like, close friends. Like girl, NELSON IS YOUR FRIEND’S HUSBAND AND YOU JUST SNATCHED HIM LIKE THAT?! Do you even have girl codes? Do you even have dignity?! Adelia’s excuse was nelson was his “soulmate” which was total bullshit to me (I was literally laughing when she said that). I was pissed that malu was indirectly encouraged her with follow your heart bullshit. Nelson was married to thereza. Thereza was his fucking wife. Thereza was your fucking friend. Doesnt matter if you had history with him or you’re still in love with him. He’s married. You’re married. Fucking move on.

And nelson, fuck that guy. FIRST, you didn’t wanna go to paris because you wanna support conceicao. AND THEN you made thereza into a typical housewife. AND THEN you had a problem with thereza having a career because she barely had time for you and conceicao. AND THEN you needed a break with her. AND THEN You gave up someone who had your back and support you all this time just to reunite with your old flame WHO WAS HER FRIEND? After all you and thereza’s been through? What I am pissed the most is that he did it so easily when thereza was crying in front of him and he just looked down?! Same goes to adelia when he was breaking up with cap because she still loves him THEN WHY DID YOU MARRY CAP?! And nelson ugh Fucking asshole. Gentleman my ass.

Adelia was really my favorite character but season 2 really ruined her because how lazy the writing was. Thereza and cap deserved so much better and fucking nelson deserved to fucking die.
