☛ : What is their typical response to being given orders?
It depends on a number of factors - where and when Vayne is in his life, what is going on, who is giving the orders, what has led up to the events before said instructions are given - really, Vayne is not unreasonable, he can be dictated to and carry out the commands of others though he does sometimes come off as a bit leery. He may hang back, if others are involved, to get a better view of the situation, but constantly Vayne is a man of action. He is more active than reactive, anyway, and it is in the current default version that has him so confused, as an example, when this sort of situation comes up.
He gave up his position, something he is used to controlling and having. He’s supposed to let go don’t you even dare but it can be hard for him, and at times leaves him floundering, even whilst he formulates plans on unsure grounds, make more mistakes, joke, even laugh. Maybe this seems very basic to some people (or meaningless), but Vayne has become very used to control, and the subtle allowances HE allows others to perform such as directing his movements are/were only due to prior words or trust shared or something along those same lines (an example of this is say a Judge Magister directed him in an intense situation - he allows this to happen because due to the oaths and extreme loyalty JMs are supposed to have on an intrinsic level for members of House Solidor, it is not supposed to be questioned. The mere idea is pretty much laughable (but this also makes the situation in the game where this event actually occurs to the contrary that much more poignant). This is just how things are - you don’t question the nerves in your hand screaming “PAIN!”, you simply respond, jerk your hand and body away to stop the pain and danger).
