Ashen snow, a smoldering winter, red grass and black leaves decorate the gray backdrop of the borderland. Feel the hair standing up on your neck? The watchers of the forest stalk you with silent steps. They wish no ill, only curiosity. The watchers lose many to the hot dens that lead out to midnight blue, so their curiosity isnt without a price. Don't be the ones taken to the blue; come across a door in the forest of ash, you'll find it's not greener on the other side.
In the void you'll find naught but slivers of white and orbs of blue as they stalk through the darkness. Glance a shimmer as they gather around, surround, engulf, and light the vast dark. They glow with no heat, they love with no heart, they speak with no voice- they live as harmony defined. They dance with purpose, they sing with light, they strum and thump and sparkle to song unheard, an unknown beat. Maybe they do have a heart, how else could they all beat as one in concordance?
A gentle patter of rain becomes the main chorus of the crystalline rings the masked beast plays as a symbol of peace to the wary creatures of dark void. They gently glow and blink their bright lights in tune with the song as they join in to make a somber song. A quiet echoed chuckle escapes the beast as it changes the tune with a flip of its instrument, crystalline rings turn to soft taps on empty wood. The creatures keep pace- the beast is clearly not their like, yet its heart thumps as though the same. Whats happened to allow it to sing with them? Did it seek for darkness? Or was it cast into it? Its claws are clean yet its coat tattered with scars and its mask stained with blood. They arent to judge if its not the beast's own. The beast slowed its song to end as it laugh soon laced with sorrow. They slowed their song to a common thrum of comfort and huddled around the furry being's trembling form as it curled to half its size. The beast's new song was here in the dark, though without a light, it will be within the safety of the beat of Melos.
