So anyways is now a good time to mention that all of my aus (and possibly my oc content) take place roughly in the same universe
Anyways I made a folder for my oc stuff ig
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Lp1Ei_M8VNS__IohCPflLYOGDHS76nGy
You say many of your characters are doomed by the narrative. Do you have any guys that are the opposite? Uplifted or forcibly saved by the narrative?
Ok well I've actually recently reset my oc universe so I'm coming up with new ocs, but as far as my old characters go I did have quite a few characters where half the plot was "so help me GOD we are getting you a better life if we have to drag your ass kicking and screaming"
You know, it’s important to have tragic blorbos sometimes because hey, maybe you had a bad day, maybe your job sucks so fucking much. But do you know who had a worse day? Blorbo bleebus, who’s doomed by the narrative
my OCs are sooo cool you guys don't know what you're missing. if you could see the show i'm watching in my head rn you'd go so crazy i'm telling u
This scene was so raw you guys
people might think creating OC lore involves a lot of thinking & planning, but in my personal experience, OC development is more like a divine vision from a god slamming you over the head with a mallet while ur doing the fuckin dishes or folding laundry
having ocs is very funny it's like. I have updates for some of my characters! Very exciting news for the half-dozen weirdos that hang out in my virtual living room
Do your ocs love you too?
Yes
No
esoteric form of roleplay where instead of actually roleplaying you just make up characters together and discuss in abstract how they'd interact and how their story would go
im glad everyone agrees that this is fun. do this with your friends now !!!
Another trope I forgot to mention that I love are traumatized characters experiencing love for the first time and not knowing how to cope with it. I just eat that shit up
especially when they’re like edgy, scary and mean. that moment where they get a tender hug, or a gentle rub or just someone complimenting them and their entire world view is changed. thats so good. i need more of it
I need to find a good list of oc creation questions to use as an ask game I think that would be fun and way easier than just Pondering Real Hard lmao
• What motivates your character?
• How does the public view them? (Doesn't have to be anything major, it could be classmates, friends, strangers in the park, etc.)
• Is your character an optimist or pessimist?
• Does your character care about their reputation and/or how others perceive them?
• Is your character more of a family or friends person?
• What, if anything, sticks out about their appearance?
• Is your character good with kids?
• What are some internal obstacles that your character has to overcome?
• What emotion does your character feel most frequently?
• If your character is an antagonist or something of the like, do they self-justify their actions? If so, how?
• What events in their past helped shape and influence them into who they are today?
• What are some of your character's pet peeves?
• Who is the closest person to your character?
• How did they become so close?
• What habits does your character have?
• What is your character's relationship with their family?
• Overall, is there anything special or peculiar about your character compared to others in your story?
• Who/what comforts your character?
• Summarize your character's goals in one sentence.
• Who's in the way of those goals?
• What is your character's relationship with their emotions?
• What regrets do they have, if any? (From any part of the story, not just exposition.)
• If your character is at a loud, people-filled party, how would they act?
• From childhood to their current age, how has your character changed?
• What is the main setting of your story and how does it impact your character?
• What are the top three most distinguishable personality traits of your character?
• How does your character view themselves? (Expectations, intelligence, confidence, self-belief, etc.)
• What emotion is the most unfamiliar to your character and how do they deal with it?
• What are the three things that your character values most?
• Is your character hiding something from other people, if so, what?
• What genre of music does/would your character love?
• How does your character view their past?
• What are three positive traits that your character has?
• What are three negative traits that your character has?
• Imagine the ideal home for your character. Where would it be located? What type of housing would it be? Who/what would be there?
• What are the things that make your character enter a full rage/cold mode? (Depends on their character.)
• What does your character want to change about themselves?
• Someone your character dislikes goes up to them and confesses. How does your character react? (Doesn't have to be a rejection.)
• What does your character have yet to realize about themselves?
• Is your character good at time-management and responsible?
• What kind of clothes does your character wear?
• What is one thing that your character dislikes about themselves? ("Nothing" is also a valid answer.)
• What does your character see as the greatest injustice?
• What does your character fear?
• On a scale from 1-10, how intelligent is your character? (1 being incredibly stupid with almost no knowledge of the world, and 10 literally being Light Yagami. If you don't get it, that's on you lol; but it's basically having over 200 IQ.)
• Does your character specialize or have remarkable talent in anything? If so, what is it?
• In a group setting, what role would your character have? Leader, co-leader, follower, or outsider?
• What event in your story altered your character the most?
• In the end, what is your character grateful for?
Thank you so much bestie holy fuck, I'll put together a character list tomorrow maybe and get to answering questions :3
Which oc do you most like to play dress up with?
Not accounting for character arcs, do you consider your primary OC to be a “good person?”
Yes
No
*let’s do favorite OC, not primary. I’m sleep deprived sorry lads.
[DAZED FROM BLOOD LOSS] hey not to kill the vibe completely but i think i am in love with you
Talking to people about your characters really is a game changer. You'll start saying things about them you didn't even know you knew.
Legitimately one of the best ways to find out something about your character that you don't know is to have someone else ask you. It's absolutely wild.
