NEOIDENTITIES
what are they?
neoids are an umbrella term for any label that exists outside of what's considered conventional and reflects a person's lived experiences. these are not transitional identities.
example; permatired/permasleepy is only considered a neoid if it is used by someone who experiences chronic fatigue or a sleep-related disorder. it could also be used by someone with a mental disorder that causes excessive daytime sleepiness. it is not meant to be used by someone who does not experience excessive daytime sleepiness but wishes to.
isn't this basically [insert coined term] ?
what seperates neoids from most coined terms like it (at least the ones i've seen) is that the guidelines under which it operates is a lot more relaxed. there are no prefixes or suffixes associated to this identity specifically (other that permaids). terms can be anything, as long as it accurately relates to the user.
neoids are heavily based on xenoids, without the aspect of being inherently anti xenogender.
anyone can create a neoid. as long as it applies to you, it's fair game. avoiding re-coining is a nonissue. having the same term mean two different things, or having different flags for one identity is expected. the only rule is making these terms and flags feel right to you.
types?
the most structure that this term has is that there are set types.
medical identities - medical identities are neoids that exist due to a medical condition the user has. physical symptomatic identities and some permaids fit under this category. these terms are exclusive to people who actually experience these things.
ex: potsie, permatired, pain symptomatic/painsym
psychological/neurological identities - psych/neuro identities are neoids that exist due to a psychological or neurological condition the user has. symptomatic identities and some permaids fit under this category. these terms are exclusive to the people it applies to.
ex: npdmonarch (can only be used by pw npd), obsessive symptomatic / obsessym, permaanxious, nerve-wreck
aesthetic identities - aesthetic identities are neoids that exist just as an aesthetic. these terms are not exclusive and can be used by anybody.
ex: pretty boy/girl, cottagecore girl/boy, animal identities, can be anything not related to symptoms
first-hand identities - first-hand identities are neoids that exist to due a person's real experiences. these are generally associated with trauma, but it can be anything, as long as it relates to the user's lived experience. symptomatic, medical, and neurological/psychological identities can also fall into this category if the user wishes it to.
ex: ___ survivor, animal/object identities that result from living as a neurodivergent person
whimsical identities - whimsical identities are neoids that dont fit into the other categories. these are also your for-fun identities! they exist because the user is a whimsical little guy !!
ex: silly boy/girl/thing, animal/object related identities without a source
closing notes
by creating this term, i sincerely hope to allow room for a community of cringe and free users. i want this term to be something that both unites likeminded people and promotes the creation and use of terms without boundaries to describe all the nuances that exist in every individual. because at the end of the day - it really never was that serious.
