“Thief” (1981), directed by Michael Mann
I loved with games like Ripper, a classic from Take Two games is that it portrayed a future world that way it should be (I mean if humans are still living in it); a world based on money and solely that. . Ripper, starring massive talent like the late Ossie Davis, Christopher Walken, Jimmy Walker (yes, DYNOMIIIIITE Jimmy Walker), Scott Cohen and David Patrick Kelly, portrayed so a beautiful cast that established a world of wicked technology, deceit, jealous, revenge and risk. . It was games like this as well as Bladerunner and Dark City that heavily inspired my writing. What was the saying from the legendary game Shadowrun? . "It's hard to worry about race when you're sitting next to a dragon." . Is race relevant to me? Of course. I'm a black woman. I get hit with it on the daily. . But... . But..! . I want to write a world where money, technology and the lust for power settles the score. If you are brutal enough, realizing that the current state of the world will never be fair, then it is ripe for molding. . If you are willing to bloody your knuckles, then there are nothing but sheep and wolves. I'd suppose like now, but more obvious in its political moves. . I dunno. I'm playing this again and I realized how ahead of it's time a lot of neo noire game were at the time when it came to social issues. I guess, like comics, video games aren't getting their Rose's until much, much later. . #videogames #pcgaming #neonoire #ripper #intrigue (at Seattle, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUJRZ8JJk63/?utm_medium=tumblr
Chapter 5 almost done. . First comic script nearly done. . I'm coming for you, @kellysued . . I'll bring the goods. . *cracks knuckles* . Watch me do me. . #writer #neonoire #scifi #sciencefiction #cybernetics #comics https://www.instagram.com/p/B5Gy2nTHJkg/?igshid=dgmr2kttoqb9
