When Neo first met Orestes, he simply couldn't believe that someone like him was grieving for Agamemnon. Like. Neo simply drew a glowing ball over Orestes with a pencil and decided that he was the most immediate and vibrant person in his life. And he was avenging someone like Agamemnon. Him?? Neo juxtaposed images, vague memories, and the sensations he'd experienced sneaking past Agamemnon's tent: sneaking because he couldn't stand talking to him. That heavy gait and tired eyes, that endless greed: is this what Orestes was grieving for? Is this what he was avenging?

Super basic au idea: after Orestes killed Neoptolemus, he sees his ghost. I think Clytemnestra's ghost haunted him in some stories, though idk if it's actually her ghost or his hallucinations BUT IN THIS AU ITS ACTUALLY HER GHOST AND HE THOUGHT IT WAS A HALLUCINATION UNTIL NEO SHOWED UP!!

in this au orestes can see the ghosts of those he killed! Im actually wondering if i should just make EVERYONE have that ability in this au. Neoptolemus would suffer seeing everyone he killed huhuhu,,,

only the most vengeful ghosts would take time out of their afterlife to haunt someone tho, so when orestes killed him neoptolemus never haunted him since he dgaf. But one day neoptolemus was just skipping around and orestes sees him and PANICS.

"WHY ARE YOU HERE?!?! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD"

"Oh you can see me."

Since neoptolemus is kinda lonely, not able to interact with anyone or anything, he ends up following orestes around and also because he thinks its funny

Que a doomed love story where rhey get to know each other and grow feelings, but they find that they can't pursue a relationship because they were too LATE. Orestes gets a lot of guilt for killing Neoptolemus and listen i get the forbidden ghost x human but neoptolemus coaches orestes to get with hermione in this one (orestes had considered joining neoptolemus in the dead but when neo found out they had a whole talk(

Its a bittersweet ending but neoptolemus is happy being ablr to spend time with his dead father and and his dead father's boyfriend and his dead brother and AH DEIDAMIA at some point in the story, Neoptolemus tells orestes to help send deidamia a message and dei sees her lil baby's ghost(idk how, the same stuff achilles pulled when he appeared in polyxena'a sacrifice prolly) and they hug and spend time together yayyy

so yeah now it’s just Orestes catching the Neo planning to kill him and Neo’s like “have you ever kissed anybody” and Orestes’s like “no- wdym” and Neo kissing him just to make sure that the next time this man will kiss Hermione he’ll remember Neo.
