Le TOP 10 du Street Art - Volume 1

Exercice difficile que d’effectuer une première sélection présentant les artistes de rue à ne pas manquer aujourd’hui. Chacun ayant son style et sa technique, nous vous les présentons dans l’ordre alphabétique, de A comme ABOVE à Z comme ZOO PROJECT. Les photographies qui suivent ont été réalisées par l’équipe d’Urbamedia ou bien glanées sur Flickr (en respectent alors la licence Creative Commons). Un conseil : Après avoir lu cette article, prenez votre appareil photo et sortez vous promener, c’est encore le meilleur moyen de profiter de ces artistes.

ABOVE

Artiste multiforme, il excelle aussi bien au pochoir, au pinceau qu’au rouleau. Qu’il dessine d’immenses textes colorés ou fabrique des mobiles éphémères, tout ce qu’il touche se transforme en or graphique. Il oscille ainsi du slogan militant à la fresque abstraite, en passant par d’énormes flèches peintes sur les grilles des magasins.

ALEXANDRE ORION

Ce graffeur brésilien s’est fait connaitre en effacant plutôt qu’en peignant. Dans un tunnel de Sao Paulo, il a effacé des têtes de morts à travers la pollution, forçant la commune a nettoyé l’ensemble pour faire disparaitre son oeuvre. Il travaille aussi au pochoir et à la peinture, principalement en Noir et Blanc, et utilise la photo pour mettre en scène ses oeuvres.

BANKSY

Peut-être le plus connu et le plus contreversé de tous à cause des millions de dollars qu’il a su gagner avec son travail, ce personnage particulièrement discret imagine de gigantesques détournements, principalement en Angleterre et aux Etats-Unis. Il utilise principalement les pochoirs pour délivrer un message simple mais efficace. Un film lui étant consacré sortira sur les écrans français à la fin de l’année. BLU

Cette troupe d’artiste s’est spécialsé dans deux domaines : Les fresques surdimensionnées et les films d’animation en stop-motion. Le résultat est réellement spectaculaire et vaut bien un voyage à Berlin.

BONOM

Avez-vous déjà remarqué que d’immenses animaux chimériques avaient envahi Paris ? Ils sont l’oeuvre démesurée de Bonom, un grimpeur masqué qui réintroduit la vie en ville la nuit. Récemment arrêté en Belgique, il est inculpé de dégradation du bien d’autrui et risque gros. Vous pouvez le soutenir en adhérant à ce groupe Facebook :

C215

Christian Guémy, dit C215, est un artiste français de 37 ans passé maître dans l’art du pochoir. A travers le globe, il manie la bombe et les cartons pour embellir les rues de nombreuses villes dont Sao Paulo, New Dehli, ou encore Vitry-sur-Seine.

FKDL

Franck Duval crée des collages mêlant formes pleines de couleur unie et romans-photos issus de journaux des années 30-40 pour créer des personnages féminins enthousiamants, comme arrêtés dans un mouvement de rock acrobatique.

NEOZOON

Leur technique repose sur un constat : La faune doit être réintroduite en ville. Pour se faire, ce collectif recycle des peaux de bêtes pour les coller sur les murs de nombreuses villes européennes, Paris et Berlin en tête. Chiens, ours, loups, taureaux se réapproprient ainsi les trottoirs.

MOSKO ET ASSOCIES

Imprimeurs de formation, Mimi et Gégé travaillent en tandem pour apporter de la couleur dans les quartiers en pleine mutation urbaine. En réintroduisant des espèces sauvages, singes, rhinocéros, girafes et perroquets, ils nous montrent que la nature a des droits jusqu’en ville. Célébrés dans de nombreuses expositions, ils n’en demeurent pas moins attachés à la rue et continuent à agrémenter les abords du quartier de la Moskova avec leurs pochoirs et leurs bombes de peinture.

ZOO PROJECT

La première chose que l’on se dit à la vue d’une oeuvre de Zoo Project, c’est : “Ils doivent drôlement nombreux pour faire des fresques pareilles !”, et pourtant, le monsieur qui se cache derrière ce nom de collectif agit seul. Armé de rouleaux, pinceaux et perches, il peint des monstres mi-animaux mi-humains accompagnés de slogans qui vous font réfléchir à plus d’un titre.

Today’s youngest generations are born into a life dominated by being, playing, learning and sleeping with flat screens (TV, PC, Xbox, Pad, Phone and Pod), living in a shadow area between the second and third dimensions which they would like to connect, and between which they strive.

This Pop-Up Generation moves fluidly and easily between 2D and 3D, as though they no longer notice that there is a difference: their brains are trained to see volume in a flat sketch or to discern structure within volume. This is how a more imaginative world will develop, one that offers supple and flowing experiences, a world where the eye and the mind scan images in search of a reality to be found in a two-and-a-half dimension, accumulating layers of two-dimensional matter to produce the illusion of three; letting them pop-up and fall flat in one simple movement of up and down, around and about, back and forth, and moving in unison on the swing of existence.

Replace Invader N°5:  Die Schwarzmund Grundel 

In der Donau schwimmt sie, in der Nordsee und in der Ostsee. In viele mitteleuropäische Gewässer ist der 15–25 cm lange Fisch über das Ballastwasser von Schiffen eingewandert. Die Schwarzmund Grundel steht in Nahrungs- und Raumkonkurrenz zu den schon vorhandenen Fischen, zum Beispiel mit dem Barsch. Der Fisch frisst Laich und auch Jungfische, meistens jedoch Muscheln. Anderen Raubfischen ist die Grundel wiederum selbst eine neue Beute. Ob sich die Verbreitung der Schwarzmund Grundel positiv oder eher negativ auf das Ökosystem auswirkt ist noch nicht absehbar.

This is the closing scene from an intro to the 2000AD comic book where future new nature TV presenter David Balooney(a sort of fusion btw Sir David Attenborough and his brother's role in Jurassic Park) is being gulped without much ado by a famished escaped carnosaurian (from the local Jurassic Circus) troop.

Just wanted to cap the previous post linking two East and West sci-fi stories from the future - where the hapless paleontologist gets munched in the end. It's a story from the Megacity of the future where new nature is climbing and buzzing around the corner and where current wildlife series get made in the polluted streets. Reality Show Animal Planet has taken over the alleys and searches for its sensationalist subjects amongst the lowly rabid and radioactive non-human denizens, with no savanna in sight.

The set-up was too perfect, it just shows how nature is everything we don't think as natural. Time and time again historians of the concept of nature and ecocritics have pointed out how unnaturally natural this nature and how difficult it is for us to acknowledge it. It is being a humbling and also disgusting experience, as it is inescapable and horrifically empowered by all the insecticides and fertile in the most abhorrent way with the help of leached fertilizers. This future is choke-full of chance encounters where escaped dinosaurian forces, apparently domesticated, eat you out for a snack. Maybe it is all good that the naturalist gets eaten or the professor gets gulped, or that Sigfried gets finally charred by the Dragon, or Beowulf served as a desert to Grendel.  

The grand discovery channel finale may well be that monster movies don't offer just comic relief. The monsters of leisure time, of entertainment and fun - are prowling around ready to eat us alive.
