Halloween D&D Campaign
So if ya’ll didn’t know, I’m a huge D&D nerd.
On Oct 26th, I DM’d my very first one shot game, and lemme tell you. I had SO much fun planning this, and watching the players go through it was hysterical.
I went with a reportedly haunted mansion that the party needed to clear out for this rich family to move into.
As is the cliche, it was not a haunting, but the handiwork of a cannibalistic sorcerer that was causing the disappearances/disturbances. His name was Bob.
This is what I learned being a first time DM:
I'll shoot over Christophe and Phichit. 😆😆 Good luck!! 🍀
Actually this is easy! I'm extremely camera shy and therefore Phichit would HATE dating me. Plus, I can't flirt at all and I'm dense so someone forward like Chris probably suits me better 😜
Send me 2 characters and I'll pick who to date
Bear in mind folks that no genre is without problems, but acknowledment of those problems is how we write better stories. Who doesn't enjoy the fantasy that love can be its own kind of magic? Or that we can defeat darkness with light?...
But of course now I am obligated to ask:
What house do yall feel you belong to and why?
Did anyone else choose their house? And how do YOU interpret the houses? I've actually always wanted to ask.
-🐍
ran or shinichi 😂
Hmmmm I think as much as I love Shinichi, I would end up slapping him LOL
And a lady that could kick my ass? Yeah, I'll take Ran 😁
Send me 2 characters and I'll pick who to date
Harry Potter and the Rise of the Nerds
Those who know me well know that I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. My oldest niece is (finally) at the age where she's getting into the books (or, I guess you could say that I'm forcing her to read them and love them as much as I do which, thankfully, she does). After she reads each book, we get together to watch the movie and nerd-out together. She's going to be Hermione for Halloween this year because she's friggin' cool and not to be messed with.
So, obviously, last weekend I took my niece with me to the Harry Potter Festival in Chestnut Hill, PA. We went because:
A.) The Harry Potter fandom is out. of. control. AND... B.) I wanted her to experience how fun it is to be a nerd about things she loves and know that are many more people than she might think who feel the same way.
I never really had that when I was a kid. I didn't know many other kids who knew all the lines to The Princess Bride, Monty Python's Holy Grail or Life of Brian, Newsies, Labyrinth, The Neverending Story, Clue, etc. I didn't think there were other kids who read as much as I did, for as long as I did. Who got so super excited about things they were interested in that they absolutely had to find out every detail they could about the thing they loved. And that was pre-internet, people. You had to WORK for it.
I want my nieces and nephews to be comfortable with what they like, to whatever extent they like it. So I let my nerd flag fly in all its glory whenever I can in case they need to see that it's fun to get excited about the things you love, no matter how old you are and no matter what anyone else thinks about it.
We had a magical day (pun intended), and my niece absolutely did NOT want to leave. Truth be told, I would have left hours before she wanted to, but that's just because I'm old and my feet hurt and because the place was BONKERS with people, which is one of my least favorite things in the world. But we stayed the entire day because we were having fun and because she wanted to do and see every. single. thing. And that includes the character impersonators:
We had such a fun day together bonding over our shared love of all things Harry Potter, and we're super excited about seeing Fantastic Beasts when it comes out in a few weeks. I'm already saving money to hopefully take her to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter sometime in the next few years. I can't wait to experience the magic of that place through her eyes. It will be...wait for it.... Ravenclawsome.
Oh, and also? I saw Hank Azaria TWICE that day. It was pretty baller and I geeked out over that almost more than over the festival itself. No pictures though.... He was with what looked like his wife and son (wearing Harry Potter gear, I might add) and I didn't want to interrupt their magical day by fawning over him. (You're welcome, Hank Azaria.)
Slayed a dragon with friends, ate some pie, stayed up too late.
