5.21.2017
Today I planned the topics I have to study this week! I had a really old tablet lying around so I utilized it and I think I like reading my bio book on it.
7.2.2017 8:16 PM (2:16 PM my home time): Here is last week’s completed spread, July’s spread, and next week’s spread! It’s officially been a week since I arrived in Spain and I am very happy to be here. Today I went to the Minas de Sal in Cardona and it was absolutely magical! An entire mountain of salt, left over from the Neolithic times and used to preserve food in the early days of Spain. Anyway, here’s hoping for another great week!
6.4.2017 10:25 AM: Good morning my darlings! 1500 posts, 360 followers... I’m so blessed. Here is my first completed week of bullet journaling, and next week’s already partially filled with a rough layout of what I have planned next week. Many more things will be added as things come up and I can inspect the time I have to complete my to do list in! I am very proud of the coming week’s spread so far. I officially have exactly 3 weeks until my flight leaves for Spain! So excited.
Jun 4. What’s your handwriting like? Do an A-Z if you’d like! What do you think your handwriting says about you?
You can see some of my handwriting here. It ranges from nice cursive to really messy print. I especially decided to go with my more natural, smaller handwriting to fit more to-do’s in each day and to be more comfortable and neat with my writing. It varies wildly depending on where I write and when, which I want to say shows my adaptability and tendency to alter myself to be more comfortable in unfamiliar situations?
6.3.2017 10:05 AM: Okay let’s be honest, the only pretty stuff I’ve been working on lately has been Spanish. But I need to find a notebook that I can draw ASL signs in.
I had a busy day yesterday, so I’ve already failed my goal not to miss a day of the June SC.
Jun 2. What goals do you have for this month?
- get my massive to do list done for chores
- get my massive to do list done for other stuff I have to do
- completely finish reviewing all my Spanish class notes and start taking notes using studyblr resources
- finish at least 3 books (squints at The Rebel angrily... I will finish you)
Jun 3. What keeps you motivated at the end of the school year?
Honestly? The relief that it’ll be over and the anxiety of failing. But I’m pretty sure without the encouragement and motivation from the studyblr community I wouldn’t have passed them all so well this year.
Hey nerds, I’m about to save your revising lives
So if you’re like me where you’re a verbal learner/visual-verbal learner where you need to do a combination of things in order to remember the information, you can’t just settle for listening once or taking notes once. You gotta do both. Well, I just found this amazing app that is going to make you praise the high heavens while you revise for exams.
TTSReader is a computer website that reads your writing back to you. But it doesn’t have to be yours.
You can upload files that may or may not be yours, copy/paste or write directly into the box, then click play to read it out.
If you don’t like the speed, you can adjust it.
You can also change the voice of the person reading it. I mean, look at these choices:
You can also download it onto your phone or as a Chrome extension and it’ll read webpages you might want to study from to you.
It even remembers what you’ve written, even if you close the tab!! So it’s great if you’re forgetful or clumsy with tabs like I am.
Me, I’m going to summarize my notes directly into it and have it read back to me. I highly recommend this app!! So what are you waiting for, my beautiful study fanatics?? Check it out now, I promise it’ll help verbal learners!!
5.23.2017 4:30 PM: Going back to my origins three whole years ago with Spanish 1! It feels silly to write out the English to what I already know so well, but it’s nice to review and pick apart introductory phrases. Putting it in this little journal will also help me teach others and get rid of illegible notes that are twice as numerous as they should be. I know once I get to the vocabulary there will be plenty I don’t remember. I’ll try to gradually switch over from “Spanish -> English” to “Spanish -> Spanish” so I’m forced to immerse myself.
I absolutely looove this journal. Vague ghosting and no bleed = happy Rivkah.
22 (M). Who do you consider a role model? Why?
My mother, primarily. She has taught me so many things about life and has really shaped my views and my love for learning while encouraging me to form my own opinions. Non-familial, though, would probably be Natalie Portman. She’s a success actress, a polyglot, and a good Jewish mother. I love her and all the activist work she does too!
23 (Tu). What type of learner are you (visual, kinetic, etc.)? How does this translate to your study methods?
Kind of a mix! Primarily visual and verbal, kinda balanced there. With some things like history, all you have to do is talk to me about and I can remember it pretty well. Language is a mix, and most other things are visual. So I usually rewrite my notes over and over with colorful stationery so that my brain remembers the color (it’s photographic, so I always remember things in images best) and with language, I practice verbally and with notes.
I’m primarily visual, though, and I’m not musically inclined or on-key in any stretch of the idea, haha.
5.24.2017 5:10 PM: I finished my last day of school today, got to say some tearful goodbyes to good friends, and received the last book I ordered! The natural light of my room after the intense storming we’ve been having is so beautiful even though there’s no trace of the sun. I’m very excited to be free and starting a new chapter (wink) of my life. I am now officially a high school senior, and I have so much ahead of me. However, for the time being, I’m going to savor my last high school summer and try to balance relaxation and productivity. I already partially succeeded, since I had a big brunch and a nice 3 hour nap! Now, however, I’m going to work on my Spanish, do a bit of cleaning, and start on my gigantic reading list :) For those of you still in exams, I wish you luck, and for those of you finishing up like me, I hope you have fun things planned!
Even though I’m on summer break, never be afraid to message me for chatting, studying, or advice xoxo love you darlings
24 (W). At what part of the day do you usually study?
Afternoon and evening because of school. Now that I’m out of school, however, that will probably vary significantly and I may due more morning studying. I’m going to try not to wreck my sleep schedule, and instead get up in the early morning so I can exercise before it’s hot.
