“Great, how are we supposed to get home now?” Liam groans loudly. Louis could’ve sworn they were supposed to meet up with everyone at ten. He vaguely remembers Liam telling him to write it down when they arrived at Glastonbury three days ago, but he obviously hadn’t and now they were all but stranded.

“We’ll figure it out, Payno.” Louis glances around for signs of anyone else who looks like they’re leaving and may have space for two more.

“My boss is going to sack me if I’m not at work tomorrow,” Liam whines miserably even as he follows Louis as he spots a small group heading towards a van that holds far more people than they’ve got.

“Chin up, this could be our ticket out,” he says to Liam before he raises his voice and shouts, “hey!”

A blonde boy turns his head in their direction and gives them an easy smile.

“Room for two more?” Louis asks desperately.

“Where you headed?” the boy replies.

“London, you?”

The boy’s smile grows wider and he nods towards the van. “C’mon in.”

“Cheers,” Louis says, slapping Liam on the back as he climbs in after the boy. “Toldja we’d figure it out.”

“That’s Bressie, Eoghan, and Laura.” The boy points out everyone in the van individually and Louis nods at them all.

“I’m Louis, and this is Liam.” Louis turns to look at the boy. “What’s your name?”

“I’m Niall,” he answers with a grin.

“You should think about what you’ve done.”

Harry hangs his head. “I’m sorry, can’t you forgive me?”

“How can I forgive you after you’ve hurt me this much?” Liam takes a breath. “You just... you need to go.”

Harry gasps dramatically and flails his arms out, sending the script Liam had given him flying across the room and Liam tries to hide his fond smile behind a huff.

“Fine!” Harry shouts. “I’m going!” He turns away from Liam and walks away in the most ridiculous fashion he can manage, waiting maybe fifteen seconds before he turns back around and grins widely at him.

“You’re a menace,” Liam says as he tosses his own script aside. “You said you’d help me run my lines and here you are, distracting me.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I was completely caught up in the heat of the moment.” Harry beams as he crosses the room and wraps his arms around Liam’s neck and leans in for a kiss. “You’re a fantastic actor.”

“Shut up,” Liam replies as he obliges Harry’s request and kisses him.

Hi, just wondering - will you keep the rule about dropping out for this round? So if someone drops out after the summaries are posted for round four, will they have to miss out on round five?

Yes, we do plan on keeping that rule - it’s the most effective way of making sure authors and artists both aren’t left in the lurch by a sudden last-minute drop-out.

I like the way autocorrect changed gif to gift in one of your tags, because that video of liam smiling at harry while they posed for photos is definitely a gift. well done autocorrect, you got it exactly right this time!

EXCELLENT WORK AUTOCORRECT. And yes at this point it is my opinion that EVERYTHING LIAM DOES is a gift, full stop.

Izzy! I have a favour to ask. I've read some really great fics about Zayn/Harry (including a few of yours!) but I just don't quite understand their dynamic, how they work so well together, why they're drawn to each other. Please could you enlighten me?

Well, I’m not sure I could say it better in an essay than in a fic, but I will try. 

One of my many, many theories about shipping is that there are two kinds of ships: ships of similarities, where you might ship them because they have so many things in common, and ships of differences, where you ship them because they seem to have so little in common and yet still work. Zouis or Ziam are examples of the former. But Zarry is very much a ship of differences. 

On the surface, there’s so much different about them--Harry, the perfect pop star, always on, weirdo hippie child who used to care so much about what people thought, very into being a celebrity and talking to everyone, who loves to travel and see new places, and Zayn, quiet geeky introvert Zayn, who couldn’t deal with being a pop star long term, who’d rather stay in with a comic book or sleep than go out, who keeps to a close set of friends, who is so based with his home and his pets. But those differences are what make them worse, the differences and the way they balance each other out. You have Zayn making a safe space for Harry to be quiet and not Harry Styles TM, someone he can come to when he’s drunk and just talk, and know Zayn will listen because that’s what he does. You have Harry making Zayn laugh all the time, with his bad jokes or stories that Zayn’s the one who always lasts through. You have Harry making Zayn sillier, with all their on stage antics, and you have Zayn making Harry stay safe, always a protective touch for this boy who the world asks so much from.

And there are similarities, of course, at the heart of it where it matters. They both do step apart, are observers in a way; they both love kids. They both have close friends they clearly like spending time with, and are close to their families, if in different ways. But it’s the differences between them that make the ship so intriguing, because it’s all about the balance. About them taking those differences and finding a place where there’s common ground. Where Harry makes Zayn come out of his shell and try new things, where Zayn makes a home for Harry in the spaces he claims. A place where they can be themselves together, those weirdo children, and make each other better. 

(all of which, of course, is ignoring the incendiary sexual chemistry and how they can’t keep their hands off each other. But that part’s obvious)
