I watched two movies with my cousin this evening because her husband is out of town until Tuesday afternoon and we always take the opportunity to watch stuff he wouldn't like when he's gone.
First we watched the 1994 Stargate movie because she hadn't seen it. She really enjoyed it and couldn't understand why it wasn't a hit when it came out. I told her it was marketed badly and they just didn't find their audience. She asked me why I went to see it. I just shrugged and said "it was a science fiction movie and the reviews were pretty good". (That used to be more than enough for me. Oh how the times have changed.)
Then I brought in a stack of movies and let her pick one or dismiss them all and I'd go get another stack for her to choose from. She chose A Dog's Breakfast. Oh my. I think about 20 minutes into the movie she was about to call it a day but she stuck with it and by the time it was over she said it was a better movie than she thought it would be. She also said she worried about me because I was laughing at some really odd things in the movie and kept complaining about the clown lamp thing in his bedroom. (I'm sorry, it freaks me out okay?)
So yay. I'm debating about tomorrow. She's never seen Doctor Who and she's only seen one episode of Sherlock ("The Great Game")... I'll suggest them both and see if either interests her.
PS - In case you're curious, and I know you are, the stack of movies included The Moon-Spinners, Kiss the Girls, Tombstone, Red Dragon, Emma and Broken Arrow.
