Background for Sentinel City!
"You have never talked to a mere mortal. (...) It is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub and exploit - immortal horrors or everlasting splendors. This does not mean that we are to be perpetually solemn. We must play. But our merriment must be of that kind (and it is, in fact, the merriest kind) which exists between people who have, from the outset, taken each other seriously - no flippancy, no superiority, no presumption." - C.S. Lewis.

Vacation
I am on vacation right now and the shop is temporarily closed while I catch up on the orders that have been piling up. But I reckon most of my questions will be about order status. These are a lot of the reason that I am behind right now :( I had gotten so many convos from the after Christmas crowd that they put me completely behind schedule because I had to spend a lot of time typing and not sewing. Right now the current lead in time is about 28 days. Once I am ready to ship a cover I print the postage from Paypal for domestic orders and they will send you an email with the tracking number so that you can keep an eye out for your cover. For international shipments, I must take those directly to the post office. I will try to use the shipment notification button here on Etsy, but I must be honest, I may well forget to do that on a couple of covers. Please forgive me. I likely will not respond to those convos again because, I would just have to repeat what I just typed above :p If your question is not related to order status, the answer will probably be delayed until I have some time to sit down and respond to several conversations at once so that I'm not stopping a bunch of times while trying to sew. I am so sorry for the delay in everything. I am working as quick as I can right now to get everyone's covers to them asap!! I thank everyone in advance for their understanding. P.S. When I am back from vacay, I will extend the coupon. That way we won't miss any coupon happiness!
A gorgeous picture of a Kindle cover in real-life. Cats love these things. Apparently, Grace's kitty likes to use it for a pillow. My cat, Hannie, like to hug them and rub her face on them while I'm trying to read. Thanks so much to Grace for this picture and letting me post it. It is SUPER cute!
New Kindles
There is a whole mess of new Kindles and I gotta say, I'm pretty excited about that! But of course, since there are new Kindles, that means I'm gonna be make things in new sizes too! So, whats up with these then? Here goes the whole Kindle line, minus the DX: ♥| Kindle 1 (7.5 x 5.3) ♥| Kindle 2 (8 x 5.3) ♥| Kindle 3 / Kindle Keyboard (7.5 x 4.8) ♥| Kindle Fire (7.5 x 4.7) ♥| Kindle w/ 5 way controller (6.5 x 4.5) ♥| Kindle Touch (6.8 x 4.7) So, as you can see the Kindle Keyboard and the Kindle Fire are really the same size, and the smaller ones are all very close to each other. The point is, I can make covers for all of these. So if you want a cover, go ahead and hit the ask up top or visit the shop!
How cute does that look?! Super cute! That’s how. It sounds a little crazy, but I am crazy. If I could, I would probably have all of the readers that there are out there, just to make sure I’m well covered. But in real life, I only have a Kindle. So, I never really get to see my covers on the other readers. I have seen them on Nooks a couple of times (very cute!). As for the Kobo, I have only seen it in the cover the wrong way around (‘cuz of the security tether on the display :).
Until now! I got a really awesome appreciation photo from a Kobo user, and I was just so excited I had to post it here! Maybe it’s something to do with the space explorers; my first Nook picture was from that same cover in a different color.
I just gotta post something to my blog. Just ‘cuz. We had a snow day today, which is awesome! Somehow I think I actually appreciate snow days better as a grown up than I did when I was a kid. Oh, and what snow we had!
Anywho, in the spirit of posting randomly, I have a picture! I have been waiting for ages for someone to send me a customer appreciation picture with a Nook. I have gotten a couple so far, but they were all Kindles. I love my Kindle, don’t get me wrong, but I am always hoping to see another reader since I don’t have them and don’t know how cute they look all the time. So here is my first Nook appreciation photo!
*sigh* So cute! Now if only I could get a Kobo picture…
On a more relevant note, to the shop that is, I have some seriously cute covers working right now and will be questing for some thread tomorrow so that I don’t run out once I’ve started. One of those covers is testing me more than any other cover I have made so far! I almost always look at them once they are done, fall in love, and say: “I’m keepin’ this one.” Of course, I can’t keep them all, but this one is really trying me. It’s one of the cutest fabrics I have ever had. If you want to know what it looks like, you’ll just have to keep watching :) In addition to this extremely kawaii (hint!) cover, there are some real cute paisley covers and Cinderella will be back really soon.
I even worked out today, I feel so accomplished.
