Argit 10: Not so Alien Force

Saw someone on twitter say that dynamite ben10 would be better if it was ben10k and this is exactly what i be talking about that is literally the peak of most ben10 fans creativity.

Cuz here we have a new continuity with an updated origin thats actually interesting and niggas out here asking for 30 year old ben.

I swear put this franchise in the hands of ben10 fans and they'll do the most boring surface level shit ever

Cuz why would they possibly make a whole new comic just for you to have seen over 200 episodes of the shows just to understand it??

Just finished Ben10 #2

And I have to say it is an improvement on the first issue in every way.

The colors are wayy better, so is the art even if there are still a few wonkey shots it's wayy less than the first issue and some of the weird dialogue that the first issue had is nowhere to be found here.

The pacing is still quick so it's a relatively brisk read but unlike with issue 1 we didn't see more than half this issue before hand so everything that happens really takes you by surprise.

This issue is still kinda setup but unlike the first one where it was just retreading beats from the original series we have alot more original stuff like in this issue from the jump we diverge from every single cartoon iteration of ben10 which is great.

Unlike the first issue where they had to juggle so many different parts of the story to make it land this issue is a more of a smoother ride cuz all the different parts of the story connect to each other instead of just 3 unrelated plots at once.

The omnitrix is presented as something that not only does ben not understand but we don't understand as well which really adds to the mystery cuz sure it is just the omnitrix at the end of the day but it's the omnitrix in a way that we've never seen it before. Ben can't control it, it's doing things we've never seen it do before and that has me invested. Like Joe Casey really said "you think you know about this omnitrix? no you don't" and I gotta tell you thats bold but brilliant.

The characters look way more on model but also still feel like themselves but there's this hint of something more below them that I can't wait to uncover.

They're definitely not beating around the bush with Max's identity like in the show which does make sense the drip feeding that they did in classic won't exactly work here with the story They're trying to tell which is fine. Max might be my favorite character of the bunch.

Ben is truly just a scared 10 year old not the bold and brash tween hero that we're used to and I'm happy that they're playing him as that it definitely works though the people who may have expected Ben to get the omnitrix and immediately jump to heroics will no doubt be disappointed.

And well gwen is still not very present in this issue but she definitely is making a name for herself being her own character with her own moral compass.

Not much action in this one but the bits of action that are there are excellent and I think a certain section of ben10 fans will be happy about what I'm talking about. They really show the stakes in this one.

All in all a very good issue much better than the first one.

I do think these 2 issues are sorta a must read together. I know the first arc is supposed to be 3 issues but i think issue 1 holds up way better when read together with this one.

All in all I'd give it like an 8.5 or 9/10

Can't wait for more.

Yeah Ben10 really is back in full force dynamite is never letting this book end. Like deadass I wouldn't even be surprised if this motivates warner brothers to take ben10 seriously.
