it's hard to pick out favorites from lotf and fotj though because they very much blend together for me?  idk

and since this is all skywalker-solo-centric stuff (WHICH I'M SORRY BUT IS WHERE MY PASSION LIES) i'll also mention starfighters of adumar because who doesn't love the rogue squadron fab four

BUT OH RAZOR'S EDGE

i really liked it!  like it didn't blow me out of the water and cause me to throw my kindle across the room every other sentence like say crucible recently did but it also didn't piss me off?  definitely a solid entry into the eu canon afaic and would def recommend it to people (also it's a good starter book because yo no backstory necessary) there's also good stuff with leia coping with alderaan which i never think is dealt with enough basically because i don't think you CAN deal enough with someone LOSING THEIR ENTIRE WORLD (and in some regards kind of being responsible for it happening?)

i wish there'd been more leia/han/luke interaction though leia/han was only very generally (and like really superficially?) played with (which yeah pre-esb there's only so much you can do but i did write like a whole fucking essay once on how han was obviously head over heels for leia going into that movie so there could have been more han-sided stuff) and luke was kind of barely in it but yeah STILL GOOD

I know you'll be very amused by my first star wars book. The Courtship of Princess Leia .. in all it's... errr.. splendour. After that I went back and read Truce at Bakura, and then Thrawn Trilogy and on from there.

HEADCANON: uh... okay so I'm going to push the Skywalker twincest line a little, but anyways: Luke's "attraction" to Leia is just his brotherly instinct, and he cares about her in more of a brotherly way than he ever realized long before he knew they were twins.

Why did I take forever in answering this?!

Sometimes I kind of wonder about Alderaan society and culture. Because when Luke told Leia that they were brothers she said “Somehow I always knew.” Even as a little kid my general reaction was:

Why would you kiss your brother?!

But recently I kind of got the idea that maybe Alderaan was like certain modern cultures where kissing isn’t seen simply as romantic. Maybe men/women would kiss Alderaan soldiers when they were going off to war. As a token of good luck, and considering how powerful the Empire was at the time it kinda makes sense, it wouldn’t be seen as romantic…it would be seen as respectful to the soldier.
