Hey there! I was gone from.... pretty much the entirety of the internet until very recently, that includes social media and talking with friends. If you wanna know why I’ll elaborate under the cut!
Long story short I’m back and I’ll try to reconnect with people and stuff! Thank you to those that have been very patient with me these past couple of months <3
In november of last year, my parents separated.
It wasn’t particularly pretty, and me and my mom and brother ended pretty much homeless. I stuck with my mom and we had to look for a place to stay, seeking refuge with an aunt and taking very little along with us. At the time I was preparing for an important selection process to become a teacher and had to study a lot so I was jobless, and we didn’t have any money.
We had to struggle to figure out what to do, and while my mom got the divorce papers ready I had to job hunt and alternate between super awful minimum wage jobs and helping my mom get us out of this situation.
After my aunt’s family started to resent our stay (and I don’t blame her, we had to intrude very suddenly) we had to look for another place to stay and settled with a dingy little apartment with only two bedrooms for three people, so I had to share a room with my mom. Between my job and my mom’s job we barely had enough to pay the rent and my brother’s tuition, so we had very little money to spare. We were very poor and wondering what we could do for things to look up again.
Those were very trying times and I don’t remember them very fondly, everyone was anxious, stressed, tired and hurt.
To top it all off a couple of months ago I lost both of my grandparents- whom I loved very dearly- due to old age, one after the other. So not only had I lost my home and my core family as it was but my grandparents as well. I was devastated, and felt sick to my stomach all the time because of the stress...
...Fortunately things are finally looking up.
After steadily recovering from the loss my mom managed to get credit for a new house, and we moved there. I was able to bring my art supplies and all my stuff with me, and having a bed all of my own after six months of sharing a bed with someone else felt absolutely fantastic.
Things with the teaching selection process are looking up too, and I’m awaiting results for the tests I did, but I’m confident I managed to land a place as a teacher for public elementary.
The last half of a year almost feels like a bad fever dream. Now I’m much more at peace with what happened, and although I still gotta seek help to process everything properly having a safe space to just... exist is already a great start.
I would absolutely love to reconnect with everyone who would like to talk again, so if you wanna hmu by all means go for it! I’ll go ahead and contact some people myself even tho I’m a little nervous haha;;
If you read all the way up to this point, I wanna thank you for being interested in my story. Sometimes life doesn’t pull any punches, but it’s those kinda moments that mark your timeline and make your victories and successes all the more admirable and worthwhile.
