Anyone use muscle relaxants for post-op soreness after nerve ablations?
Just a few more weeks and 4/4 nerve ablations to my thoracic spine will be complete again! I did the whole set of 4 (T8, 9,10 and T5,6,7, left and right) about 2 and a half years ago and I got TWO WONDERFUL YEARS of my chronic scoliosis pain being 100% gone in those spinal levels. It was amazing and two years was a pretty good outcome!
This time around, I already have the pain completely gone at the lower levels, and doing the upper left a few weeks ago helped... Somewhat. Here's hoping that having the right side done will wipe out the rest. But it seems like I'm having worse/longer soreness post-op each time I do these, up to several weeks with pain that's equal or even worse than my usual episodic pain there.
I talked to my doc (well, his NP) yesterday and she wants me to try muscle relaxants this next time. Unfortunately I can't do Flexiril bc it has a potential interaction with Tramadol, so we're going to try Baclofen.
Has anyone else gone this route and did it help? Any side effects? Do you have any other tips for managing the lingering soreness? (I already rest when I can, ice, ibuprofen, the usual. The Tramadol unfortunately has never helped this pain, I take it more for my RA.)
