Nerve Shredding Road Trips
You might wonder why I suggest a road trip when you are an adventurous soul and adrenalin junkie, however the trips I am about to share with you are simply amazing and a must-do experience when in Costa Rica. When you are on vacation in Costa Rica, it is probable that you do not have your own transport. Therefore is it a great option to rent a car or 4 x 4 from one of the local car rental agencies such as Adobe.
One of my top recommendations is taking the trip in southern Costa Rica and driving to the Chirripo National Park. It is incredibly scenic, with narrow paths, enormous waterfalls along the way and in some spots will you gun along remnants of narrow concrete slabs, which are supposed to be road. Another top nerve shredder is the Mountain of death as the locals love to refer to it. It is the road of Cerro de la Muerte, which is a foggy, twisting mountain highway. I recommend that you take it early in the morning and drive on to Dota and sleeping over at one of my favorite places in the world called Dantica Lodge.
Then you have to take the road to Drake Bay, which most people take flights to, but you as adrenalin junkie would love. It is Costa Rica’s most remote town on southern Pacific Coast. This stunning trip is going through the rainforest towering above you and you will see more wildlife-roaming wild and free than anywhere else.
