You've given me pogtopia!Sam brainrot/pos. Fundy and Sam growing close during the era that Wilbur drifts away from Fundy? 👀 I am paying attention. As I mentioned in the tags I think in that situation where they grew close, Fundy and Sam would be redstone buddies. I mean, Fundy built a bunker with a bunch of redstone underneath the manberg flag. I can imagine he would excitedly show that to sam. If you have any further ideas about their relationship I would love to hear it. Whether it's about that era or more present with Fundy's insomnia/dreams
Ifjdjdk just the idea of Fundy showing off the lil redstone projects he has done and Sam giving him a lil bit of guidance to help make his redstone skills better 🥺🥺🥺
Sam is a mix between a standard mentor and a father figure for Fundy, they try to guide them in a better direction as best they can and what not. Very heavily based this dynamic on what we saw when the ocean lads (Sam, Tubbo, Fundy, Ranboo) were working on the ocean monument project so these two get along well with Sam being like big brother/father and messing around with Fundy and the fox often returning it.
During current arc? Yeah, they still get along. I heavily headcanon that Sam has insomnia due to being a type of creeper (he's not a creeper, he's a heavily related creature, I gotta make a pist about worldbuilding soonish) so he's almost always awake very late at night so during Las Nevadas he's working on the casino. Random sudden idea, but I can see these two bonding as they work on coding for slot machines, them and Tubbo would have the time of their lives doing that.
I've gotta get around to actually watching Pogtopia vids, especially Sam and Fundy's for this AU, so I don't know nearly enough but I do know about the waterboarding incident so there's that XD. I can also see Sam trying to get Ranboo and Fundy's friendship to be strong again, but it would likely take him quite a while to even figure out there are problems since he's still very focused on the prison here, he just realizes that it's bad for him.
Honestly gotta say out of the dynamics in this AU, Sam and Fundy is absolutely one of my favorites because it just kinda works. Fatherly character who is caring towards everyone, and then the kid with no father and nowhere to go.
Oh and before I forget, Eret still tries to adopt Fundy here, writing up the papers and everything, but instead of getting Philza to sign them Fundy does a sneaky thing and does everything with Sam instead. Basically, Sam canonically adopts Fundy. Eret's whole "Fundy needs a father" stuff still happens, but it's more aimed at wanting to reconcile with Wilbur than anything.
I am tired and about to go vod searching, but this was so much fun to figure out and write! ^w^
