Y'know; ever since Bogleech first made me aware of the Salvation Army's bullshit, I feel like something needs to be done about it.
Thus I propose taking on the mantle of the Salvation Army's greatest enemy, the Skeleton Army.
The original Skeleton Army was created in 19th century England specifically to antagonize the Salvation Army in protest of the organization's campaigns against alcohol, beef, and tobacco. Members of this organization would attend SA meetings and marches with the intent of disrupting them.
The Skeleton Army was largely made up of lower to middle working-class men and was largely regarded with disdain both in and outside the Salvation Army. Which frankly is understandable as the Skeleton Army was known for instigating riots and other violent confrontations against their generally passive rivals (particularly the SA's female members), behavior that would ultimately result in the army's dissolution at the hands of authorities and it's own leaders, who's attempts to curb these self-destructive activities ultimately failed.
In light of this, why would I suggest that people unite under a name with so much bad baggage behind it? Simply put, as a means to spite the Salvation Army in it's current incarnation.
Under the flag of the New Skeleton Army, skeletons should not seek to destroy their enemy, but to usurp them as the world's leading charity organization. No NeSkAr controlled institution would deny care and aid to needy people based on race, gender, gender identity, sexuality, and/or religious affiliation.
In the spirit of this, I would suggest that Santa Muerte be regarded as the patron saint of the New Skeleton Army, as her theology is largely in line with the nature of this reconstruction and that she is thematic to the identity of NeSkAr.
