“…!?” Her confusion only intensified as she realized that it didn’t seem like he was looking quite directly at her. Had he mistaken her for someone else? Couldn’t be anything else! She’s not that worth while to–Wait. Right. He’s drunk. Doesn’t really matter when one gets to that point, Iska realized. With a sigh, she carefully leaned her head back, delicate fingers pushing at the much taller vampire’s chest.“Ooooofffff.” She stated. Her voice didn’t sound very enthused about having to deal with a drunken vampire at this time.

This proud and confident Russian woman is a survivor, and she will continue surviving, humans and Horsemen of The Apocalypse and whoever else threatens her life be damned!
As someone who had dealt with an overzealous religious family (on her mom's side) for 22 years of her life, freedom and opinion had become very valued in Iska's life, as have the concept of self-preservation. Because her father was primarily absent for a majority of her life, she had to look to her two uncles for guidance. One uncle in particular had a strong desire to give her survival training and camping experience. The other felt the need to teach her freedom of belief and finding oneself. Definitely a dynamic brotherly duo that has influenced Iska in a majority of the aspects of her life.
Both were the founding reason why Iska Mayaka is as she is today. In the more traumatic parts of her life, the reason is because of an overbearing mother who ultimately forced her baby out of the nest sooner than later, and not for the right reasons.
Because of the influences in her life as well as carefully picked out close friends she had found on the internet, Iska had struck her own chord (almost literally as she had become a vocalist later on), and by the time she moved away from her overbearing mother and restrictions, Iska Blossomed into a very strong-willed, and rather confident woman, traveling Europe while singing and camping.
Four years after moving out of the oppressive nest of her mother’s, Iska had traveled throughout a majority of Europe. And by the time the apocalypse hit, she was just finishing up her short tour of the major cities of Japan.
After the apocalypse had begun, the Japanese Imperial Demon Army was on the move. And unfortunately, so were the vampires. Each faction was gathering as many left over humans, both child and surviving human as they can as shit hit the fan in the world. Within all this crazy lunacy, Iska dodged and ran from the death and destruction around her, evading a majority of both factions’ tomfoolery.
Now, in Iska's case, the woman had retreated, scavenged and endured. Several weeks after the cacophony of mayhem, The Japanese Imperial Demon Army had found her along the Osaka Bay during a routine patrol; the young woman was huddled under a ragged tarp with a pack full of taken food and water. Surprisingly, she was mostly unscathed, save for the bruises and little scrapes she had.
Taking her under their wing, The Army took the Russian back with them to their Hospital in Shinjuku, doing the following:
Taking samples, practically interrogating her, then enlisting her with no other option to give; and then making her a messenger for the army. Since then, she had served as courier and messenger, excelling in her duties and skills as each message was delivered successfully. In the few years that followed, all that she did became routine, making her agile and proficient in what she did.
Her work continued up until the ambush before the battle for Nagoya. Once Iska's envoy was ambushed cross-border to the vampire noble controlled city, and her location ultimately was compromised, she had to vacate the premises and abandon the mission. With her envoy gone, Iska’s survival became top-priority in her eyes. She had only gotten away by the skin of her teeth. The surprise attack left her disoriented and she had since then been left wandering the perimeter of the ruined capital, surviving on her own, avoiding vampires and Horsemen alike.
At one point, during a reckless charge made by a Horseman at a five man patrol of Humans, Iska sustained a rather nasty shoulder wound. Taking left-over basic medical supplies she was able to find from a broken down hospital, the battle-wary Russian recuperated, keeping herself hidden away as the wound ultimately scarred over.
Since her prolonged absence almost several months later, Iska had ultimately decided to avoid the Army as well, despite the privileges and conveniences they could hypothetically provide to her if she turns herself in. Her experiences within the Army did not help encourage her to return, either. Borderline cultist attitude, high-and-mighty officers with unnecessary household power struggles--these are the things Iska wants nothing to do with.
Now, because of her prolonged absence, Iska would be viewed as having turned her back on the Army. Such actions would ultimately lead to her untimely execution if she becomes captured and interrogated.
And thus, the humans of JIDA have become top on the list she most definitely does not want to tango with, alongside Horsemen of the Apocalypse and the vampires.

Iska is a strong-minded, booty-licious and independent woman who don't need no man.
She could also be considered a badger for the fact that when cornered, she becomes a brutal, single-minded survivor with no remorse, whether she has killed her own kin, or vampires. Just let her have a knife and some debris, and you'll find yourself facing a clever, quick, single-minded warrior. She is not strong in the least bit! She just knows when to strike, and when to run the hell away.
Her survival has come first and foremost for a majority of the time she has spent in the 'wilds' of Shibuya and the surrounding devastated area.

*Iska was in Shibuya as a tourist when the disease spread and when the vampires then attacked.
*She is one of the few civilians recruited to have survived both ordeals.
*Those she had worked under later on in the Japanese imperial demon army have dissected her to examine why she survived the virus. They’ve withheld any resulting information for lucrative reasons. To keep her under close watch, she had been made a messenger for the army.

*As Iska was traveling on foot from one outpost to another, there was an ambush set by several vampires who were patrolling the area for the nobles plan of attack for the war.
-In this situation, because of her delay and extended absence, she is considered MIA by the Army, or worse yet, dead and a lost cause. If she is returned, she risks execution, or worse, torture/interrogation.
-And due to political infighting, and then the vicious push made by the vampires to take back Shinjuku, allocations for rescue / recovery had been ultimately delayed and terminated.
*Evidently Iska has the worst luck in the world, but she has enough common sense and survival instincts to get her by.
