Hi hi! New oc just dropped! I wanted to use him for rp stuff but tbh idk if that will ever happen, here's his backstory from his bio regardless!
His name is Nestore Sabbatini, his backstory is under the cut! :^)
Nestore was not always a "human" (he would argue that he still isn't human at all). At one point in time, he was the familiar to a powerful witch: a man by the name of Cesare Sabbatini. Cesare was a sickly man who was dying from an unknown illness; to save his life, Cesare sold his soul to the devil and in turn became a witch. Bestowed unto him was a hound which he named Nestore.
Cesare, after recovering from his illness, decided to take it upon himself to work on healing magic. He worked his magic on others solely through request, never wanting his identity as a witch to be outed. Cesare came up with all sorts of research and recipes for different healing rituals, spells, medicines, etc., and all seemed well until he was caught by a greedy local doctor who reported him to religious authorities. Cesare, much to the horror of Nestore, was tortured in efforts to prove that he was a witch (even going so far as to hang him only for him to survive). After all of the failed attempts to execute him, Cesare was ultimately burned at the stake. Since he was present during the scene of Cesare's death, Nestore was the natural inheritor of his master's powers.
After Cesare's death, the man's name was smeared through the mud in an attempt to make him look like a monster in life. Despite the falsities spread about him, Nestore knows the truth: that his master was a good, kind man, who only wanted to help people so they never had to suffer like he did.
To this day, Nestore grieves the loss of his beloved master, and he refused the pacts offered to him by other witches.
It’s Gries’ little troupe consisting of Feyneth and his Grimmkin and Grimmsteed. Plus his poppy, Nestore!
Feyneth
She's a red paper wasp. She's the Troupe's warrior.
She's 23 years old, she's a woman, and she's pansexual.
She’s serious, tough, highly protective of those she cares about, but chivalrous and will work hard to fix mistakes she makes.
She joined Gries’ troupe because she felt guilty for getting caught in her trap and because she didn’t want to leave a child alone in this rainforest.
Eventually they became quite close and she began treating his as a younger brother.
She can hunt as well as cook, so she often cooks for both her and Gries, and eventually Nestore.
Grimmkin
You can tell they’re Gries’ Grimmkin by their floppy and zigzaggy ears.
He only has the three right now as Feyneth, being an awesome hunter, collects most of the flames.
Grimm Steed
Gries has a single small Grimmkin.
Much like him, it’s young and small, but in time it’ll grow into a strong steed.
Nestore
He's a potato beetle. He's Gries' poppy and a music box maker.
Hes 40 years old, he's a man, and he's asexual.
He’s a big sweet heart! He’s very polite, cheerful, and likes to make people smile.
He took care of Gries for a good couple of months before he eventually died due to getting stung by a poisonous bug.
About almost a decade later, Gries returned to the rainforest to find where he died, found his ghost, binded it to a Grimmkin, and eventually revived him using his ashes and magic. So he got another chance at life.
He’s been living with Gries and his troupe in Mishta, helping Gries with making music boxes and just being a dad to him. They get along really well.
His Ritual was incomplete. His summoner died so there was no way the Ritual could be completed. Unfortunately, he was really young and had witnessed the death, not to mention the Troupe had a hard time finding him in that Kingdom. The Troupe eventually found him still lingering around his summoner's corpse. They ended up raising him until he was old enough to return to the kingdom on his own.
Gries’ Poppy, Nestore
Much like his older siblings, his ritual wasn’t complete, although for a completely different reason than his siblings. For a good couple of months, he was raised by the kind potato beetle Nestore. When Gries was born, he had very poor eyesight and would often bump into things and couldn’t exactly make other bugs out clearly. Despite Grimm’s concerns about this, he had to give Gries to the summoner aka Nestore. Luckily Nestore basically had the same condition as Gries (myopia), so it wasn’t too hard to get an old pair of glasses and fix it up for the little baby. Nestore was the first person Gries saw clearly, so he believed Nestore to be his parent.
Nestore initiated the Ritual because he was told it could grant any wish. Of course, his wish was to share his music with others and make people happy, to which it was granted by taking care of Gries. He loved Nestore’s music boxes and always got excited to listen to them, to the point where he’d imitate the clicking of the key when he wanted to listen. Nestore would read to him, talk to him, feed him, and basically just treated him as his own child. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. When Nestore finally found his first flame he got stung by a scorpion and the poison would kill him by the end of the day. In that time he wrote a letter to Gries, hoping that if Grimm found the child he’d also see the letter and he pretty much just treated it like any other day, as to not worry the child.
He died in the night while Gries was asleep. Since Gries was so young, he was unaware that Nestore had passed and was doing everything in his power to keep his poppy warm. He even found the flame Nestore was going to get and ate it, so he could use that power to try and warm up Nestore’s corpse. Grimm felt that something was off as he could sense the summoner, but he was also not there. Using his all-seeing-eye power, he soon found out that Nestore was dead and his child was hanging around the body. And it had already been a couple weeks since Nestore died. In a panic, he sent out all his Grimmkin and his Troupe to help him search for the child and the summoner’s corpse. Since the jungle of which they were summoned to was so vast, it made it difficult to find them.
A month had passed since Nestore died and they finally found a feral Gries and the poor summoner’s corpse. Gries didn’t recognize Grimm at first until he felt the warmth of his dad after having bitten him. Grimm eventually got the child’s trust and was able to bring him and the summoners body back to the tent. He didn’t even go into Nestore’s tent for anything, i.e. the letter. Gries was difficult as an infant to take care of because he’d have night terrors, would be crying for Nestore, wanted to eat what Nestore fed him, and was really, really skittish. It wasn’t until he was a toddler when he mellowed out. He and Brumm raised Gries until he eventually left to go face his fear of the deep jungle.

About Gries
While his siblings and father are loud and boisterous in some sort of way, Gries is the complete opposite. He is very shy, withdrawn, self-reliant, and quiet. He doesn’t care for dancing, singing, or performing in any sort of way and would much rather read, take apart machines, and make and compose music for the music boxes he makes. Just so he wouldn’t be completely, helpless, Grimm insisted that he’d learn to fight, to which Gries agreed, as it would be useful should he have to defend himself. Despite his quiet nature and somewhat antisocial disposition, he does enjoy being around his family members and seeing them perform.
Gries is 11 and has no interest in lovey-dovey things. He likes reading, taking apart/fixing machines, making music boxes, composing music, and hanging out with his family. He dislikes being coddled, lies/lying, secrets, being the center of attention, constant intrusions when he’s working on something. He used to have a severe phobia of going deep into the jungle and subconsciously isolates himself from others due to events in his infancy. This makes him come off as cold, despite him actually being quiet affectionate and loving. He’s closest with Brumm, Grimmhilda, Feyneth, and Nestore.
He mostly just stays in his tent, reading or working on machines/music boxes. He rarely goes out to hunt for flames at first, due to his phobia, but eventually becomes more comfortable with doing so. He hangs out with Feyneth and/or Nestore (who got reincarnated) and they lead a relatively quiet life. Feyneth often does the flame hunting and just hunting in general. She acts like an older sister to Gries. Nestore, in his second chance at life, continues being a father figure to Gries and also cooks and teaches Gries. He’s generally a sweetheart to both Gries and Fey because he’s full of love.

Gries Troupe and Performance Life
His Troupe consists of:
Feyneth, a red paper wasp who was once a hunter
Nestore, Gries’ reincarnated summoner/caretaker
3 Grimmkin
A small Grimmsteed
Feyneth treats Gries as a younger brother. After feeling guilty about him getting hurt in her hunting trap, she vowed to look out for him henceforth. She unknowingly joined his Troupe, but had no regrets from her decision.Gries calls her Fey. She does a lot of the hunting and the cooking for the Troupe. She also collects most of the flames, although Gries does go out from time to get some himself.
After reincarnating Nestore, he’s essentially another dad. He gets along really well with Gries and he often teaches him more about machines and music box making. He treats Gries as a his own son and loves him very much. He tries not to coddle him and respects Gries’ space.
Gries doesn’t actually perform like his siblings do. He makes very intricate music boxes instead, often times telling little stories or just little dances/fire arts. He also sells them, which gets him most of his funds. He makes cursed music for some which induce nightmares, so he’s also using that as fuel for both himself and the Nightmare Heart. He doesn’t have a preferred theme or music style, and instead likes to try out various things.
Nestore fun fact! He obviously could not be fed chocolate as a familiar, but once he gained his human form, he tried it once and was immediately hooked! It's one of his favorite things to eat now, but he's more susceptible to getting a quicker tummy ache because of it 😞 a small price to pay!
