Gladstone Gander as Loki (Gladstone Laufeyson) - What If...? Mickey and friend became Avengers

I think it's from the new Avengers issue where Donald and his friends became Marvel superheroes, where in this issue Donald became like the god Thor, who is the Norse god of thunder, and here it's about where Gladstone Gander, Donald's cousin, became Loki, the Norse god of misfortune and evil. Interestingly, Gladstone, although supposedly a happy duck (goose), actually represents something that is the opposite of him, but you can sense a conflict between Donald and Gladstone, since Thor and Loki are brothers and sons of Odin. In my opinion, this is a good thing and finally that the Disney authors did the right thing. It's a big shame that these comics, or rather the stories in these comics, turned out to be very bad in my opinion and are mostly for the little children who read them (although the question is whether they will buy them). Everybody talks about Goncharov, but nobody remembers the 1975 parody published on Topolino, written by Guido Martina and drawn by Giovan Battista Carpi? That was a blast! Unfortunately it has never been reprinted. Hopefully someone will eventually do something about it.

Impegno vs Buona Sorte

Donald e Gladstone partecipano entrambi a una gara ad ostacoli. Donald dimostra a tutti la sua agilità (acquisita negli anni nei panni di Paperinik) nell'affrontare gli ostacoli, mentre Gladstone semplicemente rimane in attesa che la sua fortuna faccia lo sforzo per lui. 

Nonostante tutto l’impegno, chi ne esce vincitore senza sforzo (come al solito) è Gladstone, facendo arrabbiare Donald e gli spettatori.

Gladstone però si rende conto che non c’è gusto a vincere senza sforzo e che ciò attira l’antipatia della gente che assiste.

A causa però di alcuni eventi, Donald si trova braccato in una situazione pericolosa. Gladstone si offre di soccorrere il cugino (che naturalmente non vuole perché è ancora arrabbiato con lui per la gara), anche se Archimede lo avvisa che entrando in casa la sua fortuna verrebbe neutralizzata. Gladstone accetta ugualmente per mettersi alla prova.

Utilizzando un braccialetto per potenziare la sua fortuna, Gladstone mette al sicuro entrambi (be’ quasi, Donald come al solito atterra in malo modo).

Donald è ancora arrabbiato con Gladstone per la sua fortuna sfacciata, ma sa riconoscere l’impegno del cugino nel venire a salvarlo e si complimenta con lui. In questo caso Gladstone dimostra che ci tiene al suo cugino nonostante i loro battibecchi. 

Naturalmente Gladstone è Glastone. Quindi non ci mette molto a tornare presuntuoso come al suo solito vantandosi della sua fortuna e facendo innervosire Donald che predilige l’impegno. Infatti si ripromette di dimostrargli un giorno che la costanza e lo sforzo sono più importanti.

Un discorso che salta spesso nelle storie dove sono entrambi coinvolti. Anche in una storia di quando erano bambini, Donald voleva dimostrare a qualsiasi costo al cugino che usando le sue sole forze poteva battere la sua fortuna.

I due sono due facce opposte della vita: c’è chi fa carriera contando sulla fortuna e chi ottiene un ruolo importante solo con l’impegno.
