They offered financial aid and she didn’t want to play college tennis in the usa. <note somehow college tennis in the USA pays players, even though it is supposed to be amateur>. Some have suggested she was not joyous enough with the wimbledon win. But she is russian. She is not from kazakhstan. The tragedy of modern entertainment is the desire by many to fight various battles in the field of sports that sports can’t change or manipulate.

But russians who live outside russia know no matter how much money they invest, no matter how hard they train or how respected they are by peers, they will be penalized merely for being russian, not for having any influence at all in the russian government. And all to often are only protected from admonishments outside russia when they are not labeled under the russian flag, even when they are born and raised in moscow.
