I ❤ being a vet tech!
Piper's been on the new protein supplement for about 2 weeks, and 5,000iu vitamin E for about a week now. I don't know how much is wishful thinking, but I feel like she's putting on a little weight already. We've kept up the groundwork and have been incorporating carrying sand bags for non-rider weight training; it feels like she has more gas in the tank and is more willing to get moving despite the heat wave.
We're not going to give up hope of riding in the future, the vet is interested in seeing how she looks after more strength training. I am just glad that her x rays were clean so I feel better about pushing our ground workouts a bit more.

You have been called to a local residence for a 19 year old female who has fainted. Upon arrival you are greeted by the patient’s boyfriend, who leads you to the living room where the patient is seated on the sofa. The patient states she “stood up to fast” and fainted onto her couch.
PRIMARY ASSESSMENT
LOC- A&Ox4, slightly hasty in speech
A- patent
B- slightly higher than normal breathing rate, equal chest rise and fall
SPO2- 100%
C- pulse is rapid
CTC- flushed, warm, clammy
SECONDARY ASSESSMENT / HISTORY TAKING
O- fainted 15 minutes ago
P- standing too quickly
Q- tunnel vision
R- n/a
S- 1/10
T- patient fainted 15 minutes prior to EMS arrival and came to approximately 45 seconds later
S- patient very fidgety and hasty in speech
A- n/a
M- patient states that she has just been prescribed Adderall for the first time 2 days ago.
P- ADHD
L- patient states that after she fainted she realized she had not eaten since she took her first Adderall.
E- patient was laying down on the couch when she stood up to get a drink. Patient states that she immediately got tunnel vision and 45 seconds later she came to on the couch.
VITAL SIGNS
BP- 105/60
HR- 110
RPM- 24
TEMP- 99 F
SUGAR- 50 mg/dL
INTERVENTIONS / REASSESSMENT
RX- 1 packet of oral glucose
REASSESSMENT- vitals remain consistent, blood glucose rises to 130mg/dL five minutes after administration of oral glucose.
