FTH 2026 Supported Org: Never Again Action

During this first year of the new presidential administration, many of our worst nightmares have been coming true: ICE, which began ramping up warrantless arrests early last spring, has since escalated to full-on hostile invasion of several American cities. Permitted by the Supreme Court to engage in racial profiling, ICE agents (with support from CPB, DHS and often state or local police) are forcing themselves into people's homes on false pretenses, staging violent life-destroying raids for the sake of social media footage, and murdering people who protest or even just try to run away.

It's dire enough that even Democratic lawmakers—hardly known for their courage or ability to meet the moment—are comparing ICE to the Gestapo, the secret police of Nazi Germany.

Never Again Action is a Jewish-led mobilization against the persecution, detention, and deportation of immigrants in the United States, taking direct action to raise the alarm about the current system and disrupt its operation, and to catalyze a popular movement for permanent protection for all undocumented people. They work by empowering the public, not making compromises with the powerful. They don’t negotiate with candidates, politicians, or companies—but welcome them to move to the right side of history. They act to change the common sense among the American public, to create the political conditions that politicians will have no choice but to follow.

NAA recognizes that today’s antisemitism, anti-immigrant hatred, and other forms of bigotry uphold one another—and safety lies in the collective struggle against white nationalism and white supremacy. When they fight for themselves as Jews, and for their allies in the immigrant community, they recognize that we are all in this together. Never again means never again for anyone.

NAA fights for a world where people of all races, identities, and origins come together to tear down the walls that have kept us apart from each other and build a new world.

Spending time with my partner is one of the biggest things that is keeping me going right now. But thousands of immigrants in the United States aren’t able to spend time with their loved ones. They’re trapped in detention centers, waiting in crowded, unsanitary conditions. Just waiting to find out if they’re going to get sick and possibly die, alone in a cell. Their only hope is for governors to use their emergency powers to empty the detention centers, before they turn into death camps. So I'm going to call them tomorrow, and I hope you will too. #ReleaseThemNow Please use this above text, edited with something you’re grateful for in these scary times. Email your families and friends. Encourage them to call their governors’ offices too. We must release all people from concentration camps before they become death camps. This is urgent.

My father was a fugitive Aramean

Every year I host a seder, but this year, I can’t. I don’t have room in my apartment, even if people sit on the floor. This is really painful to me, because I love my seder; I start planning weeks in advance. I use vacation time to get ready for it.

I get this from my parents, who took us out of school to help prep for the family seder, putting wood on sawhorses for the table and getting old plastic lawn chairs out and clean for seating. My father’s Haggadah bristles with sticky notes for insertions of commentary.

Since I can’t have a seder, I’m joining this effort, which was conceived of and built with the guidance of, and at the request of, organizations from the communities most hurt by immigration policy.  It attempts to uphold the principles we memorialize on Passover: 

My father was a fugitive Aramean.

You shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the feelings of a stranger, having yourselves been strangers in the land of Egypt.

For Passover 2020 (Pesach 5780), we are working to free 20 people from detention, in a season when detention centers have the potential to become deadly sites of untreated illness.  Because of the cruelty of ICE policy, it will cost $180,000 to return those 20 people to their families.

Please help if you can.  Any contribution is precious.

here is something fun everyone can do   I would also mention that, if you’d rather not let ICE know who you are, in addition to using a temp email site, on PC you can right-click on the document file, select properties, go to the Details tab, at the bottom of the window click “Remove Properties and Personal Information,” select “Remove the following properties from this file,” hit “Select all” and press OK.

Anti-immigrant hatred, antisemitism, and other forms of bigotry uphold one another—and safety lies in the collective struggle against white nationalism and white supremacy. For many American Jews, honoring their heritage means standing with vulnerable people of all kinds in their struggle for justice and recognition. When they stand up for themselves as Jews, and for their allies in the immigrant community, they recognize that we are all in this together. Never again means never again for anyone —not in the United States, and not in Palestine.

Continuing their work to fight antisemitism and anti-immigrant bigotry, for the past several months, NAA has also worked in cooperation with other organizations to mobilize in support of a ceasefire in Gaza, working to challenge the narrative conflating Jews and Israel, staging protests and demonstrations in support of Gaza and calling for a ceasefire. NAA and its partner organizations argue that the culture and values of Judaism require them to stand up against injustice and oppression everywhere.

They imagine a world where people of all races, identities, and origins come together to tear down the walls that have kept us apart from each other and build a new world.

Flood ICE Toolkit

You might have heard about ICE launching a new “Citizens Academy” in Chicago. We just got our hands on the application materials — and it’s as bad as we thought.

ICE is trying to recruit regular people for a propaganda program to teach “awareness and appreciation” for ICE’s deportation work, and train them on “firearms familiarization and targeted arrests.”

The last thing we need is ICE training armed vigilantes to terrorize us or our neighbors for being immigrants or people of color. So we’re going to fight back, and that starts today with #FloodICE.
