Never Dance Again is a song done in the new retrowave style, that reinterprets the best part of 1980s music and has made a huge resurgence in recent years. We probably have the movie Drive from 2011 to thank for putting that into the mainstream consciousness for a brief moment and breathing life into an ever evolving genre of music.

This song starts so peppy and upbeat with the now classic retro beats and guitars composed in a modern style. I can’t say for certain, but I am almost positive someone is rocking up the keytar in this track. For a song that is so peppy and upbeat, the beat is absolutely brutal and pounding. Just a relentless smashing of that bass drum, pulsating violently through the whole thing once we get going.

And lyrically? I thought with such an upbeat and lively song we would be treated to something similar. Oh was I ever wrong. And he even sings, I bet you probably need to have this song explained. And oh boy did I ever need it explaining! I was always too busy dancing to the tune to see what was under the hood. Never Dance Again refers to seeing his ex in the street with her new lover and just twitching the wheel to mow them both down. I guess you’ll never dance again…. One of the darker songs I just love to dance to.

Being a long time huge Celldweller and Blue Stahli fan, I'm so glad Bret's making some new vocal tracks again! Bought this single off of fixt last night and listened to his new songs from his new album, but just like Celldweller's "Wish Upon a Black Star", I'm just going to wait and purchase the full album. This is easily my fav so far, mostly due to me being a sucker for songs with an 80s vibe >w<;
