The Quiet Importance of Danger & Eggs | Secret Screening
Its funny A lot of what they mention about the main character pairing is what I want, in a way, from We Bare Bears and feel was critical about #Fangbone!
Admittedly things are more back and forth and I haven’t watched the show. but Doug Mackrell’s assessment is what I wish were more in these pairings. There is an easy way to fall into a prat and cad dynamic which usually ends up one looking good and the other bad. For all its praise I don’t think Rick and Morty avoids this, it plays with this but frankly its the same problem with House M.D. sure you’ll vaguely hint at the main character’s antics being bad but he’ll get results and be irreplaceable and unparallel (as to what happens in life, OBSOLESCENCE) or replacement if not with your less charming flaws.
Sometimes its just the missing of certain counter traits (I Miss Spartan Grizz’s neat room) other times its overdramatic corrections (I’m so sad my girlfriend left me let me attempt suicide no one understands the sheer agony of being ME) Jerry is SO discreditted as an opposing voice OVERALL even when he’s right he’s wrong. And I feel they want to subvert a trope with Beth but have nothing without it. Much like Asami
Beth was the nagging shrew wife, but no she isn’t nagging or at least not a killjoy skold. Asami was meant to be the other woman. but look we took the criticized element out of that character and have.. uhm sort of a person who does stuff.. mostly in the background? Maybe?
Broad character traits aren’t your enemy. But when you undercut them and don’t give something else as accessible or room to grow it can leave you with something just to project on. Asami had her chemistry, sort of, with Korra. Beth has.. uhm.. well she’s smart and sardonic and exasperated with Masculine bullshit (except for her father’s. so she has Daddy Issues)
Here is hoping I enjoy the show. And I will give Doug this much he front loaded the positive appeals. But I have to say Loud House is “dipping?” Ya know with one of the gals being into a gal? Steven Universe is pretty damned explicit with the figleaf of “agendered space rocks that fuse...sometimes” Just how super duper gay is this show? The clips make me.. unsure and two entire eps about gay culture seem to get me twigged BUT he has a point. The emphasis is on them being normal and extant and influential and the humor and building decent. It isn’t “surprise twist” gayness. But from the premise...oh well execution. I should give it a shot.
Tfw you describe how you dug a trench in the yard to retrieve your cat's skull and the psych immediately starts scribbling furiously in his notepad
IM PRETTY SURE AN FE14 VIDEO IS PLAYING BUT I CANT SEE IT AND IT KEEPS LOOPING AND IT SOUNDS REALLY SENSUAL
Tonight I hopped a fence to get into a private golf course in order to find a Horsea. Son of a bitch wasn’t even there. Had to run through two different backyards in order to get back to the sidewalk.
Now my parents will be able to tell my future children about my days as a “wild child.”
i had like a major insomnia attack the day before yesterday and i was up for almost two days straight, i started hallucinating so badly, i jumped out of my chair bc i swore a man was standing next to me
