The book "Never Lie," written by Frieda McFadden, is interesting; it is tedious and a bit uninteresting till you get to the last few chapters. Honestly, even a cheese grader won't have this many plot holes, and I truly believe some sixth graders can write more compelling sentences. I wanted to throw this book from the rooftop, but I spent my hard-earned money on it, so I kept reading.

The book's saving grace is that these two dysfunctional human beings ended up together, saving the world from their chaos. Well done, they deserve each other!

One of my pet peeves is when the books don't have an index/content page. This book—unfortunately—does not have an index.

The writing was genuinely terrible. Here's an extract:

"But my attention goes back to that white cashmere sweater I had been slobbering over last night. I love cashmere. I mean, everyone does. What sort of freak doesn’t like cashmere? And the sweater is so white. Like unblemished snow. I grab the sweater and pull it off the hanger. I throw it over my head, almost groaning in ecstasy at how nice the fabric feels against my skin. I love cashmere."

Yep, I am not joking, she wrote "I love cashmere" TWICE in a matter of sentences. This whole thing made me wanna get a stroke while reading it.

Then there is force-feeding foreshadowing; I felt like I was being choked to death with the flashing neon sign foreshadowing that Freida deployed. Here's another piece of extract:

"I don’t know why my friends don’t like him. Whenever we talk about him, they always say, this is a red flag, or that’s a red flag. But Ethan is a genuinely good guy. What does it matter that he hasn’t had many girlfriends before me? And why should the fact that he lost his parents and doesn’t have much family be a reason I should avoid him?"

Hg follows this train of thought so many times that even Adrian Aggrest could get it.

Did Frieda actually read the first 200 pages before she published them? Tricia was so distraught and terrified because her new husband wants to buy the house they're currently snowed in, which looks like a lived-in horror house in the middle of nowhere. Later, we learn that everything was orchestrated and that she had different motives for coming to the house. So, how is it that her emotions and state of mind at the beginning are not only inconsistent but strikingly contradictory by the end?

The plot seems so forced, and it feels as if 2 different people wrote the book without actually continuing the other's work.
